Some voices often reflect how millions feel. With the US Presidential elections scheduled this November, Draymond Green broke the norm of only speaking about the NBA. He took his public platform to pledge his support to Democratic party candidate Kamala Harris. While she is amidst controversy following the announcement of her candidature, the GSW veteran chose to elevate the Vice President’s hopes differently, sharing a heartbreaking, yet touching, childhood story about his father.

Discussing the upcoming Presidential elections, the veteran star showcased his allegiance to the Democratic party by wearing a t-shirt with former President Barack Obama imprinted on it. Moreover, the Warrior also advocated for Kamala Harris to create history by becoming the first female President of the country, “We uplifting here. I wanna send my love, my support to Kamala and her team, whoever she decides that she wants her VP to be. Good luck to them.”

Then, pondering about the genuine possibility of having a female President, Draymond Green recalled an emotional childhood story, “I remember sitting in the office with my dad and I was looking in the magazine and I asked my dad and I said ‘Do you ever think we’ll have a woman President?’” In response to Draymond’s hopeful question, his father said, “Not in my lifetime.”

That’s when the reality hit the Warriors superstar, “I started Boohoo crying in that office because that was the first time I had processed like damn, my dad gonna die at some point. When he said that, it crushed me,” he revealed on The Draymond Green Show. Remembering the incident and his dad like it happened yesterday, his eyes once again filled with hope, after seeing Kamala Harris run for President.

Draymond Green sees Kamala Harris as a huge inspiration for the youth

As Kamala Harris aims to create history, her journey is not going to be easy. Soon after her name was brought to the table for Presidential candidature, opposition leader Donald Trump claimed that she had failed to pass her California bar exam without acknowledging the rest of the truth. It was later clarified by Harris that she failed her first attempt but successfully cleared it on the next one.

Kamala has received a ton of support from the many people who have showcased their belief in her. Even former President Obama advocated for the Vice President and even said to her, “We called to say Michelle and I couldn’t be prouder to endorse you and to do everything we can to get you through this election and into the Oval Office.” Also, being a father of three daughters, Draymond Green wants Kamala to become the first female President of the USA. “I got three daughters. For them to just have the idea of, ‘Wow, I could run for President one day’ that’s what she doing. That’s incredible to give that hope,” he remarked.

Pouring his heart out, Draymond Green also had a special message for Harris, “Good luck in your race. It’s the race of a lifetime. You achieved it. Now, go be great.”
