Can Curry and Green lead the Warriors to another title, or are injuries their Achilles' heel?

As the Warriors hit a scorching 12-3 to lead the West, the star duo of Stephen Curry and Draymond Green continue to lead the charge. Despite being well into their careers, Steph remains the team’s offensive anchor while Dray keeps the defensive engine running. It might be a little too early to call them champions, but the Dubs can surely put their name among the title contenders if they keep this going.

That doesn’t mean they are completely off the danger zone, though. However, in a stacked Western Conference with Thunder and Wolves projected to be potential rising stars, the GSW weathered its injury challenges to stay atop. And as they continue to build on their impressive start, they are coming into tonight’s matchup vs. the San Antonio Spurs with a few names on the injury list.

For the Warriors, Reece Beekman remains out, and De’Anthony Melton will miss the rest of the season due to ACL surgery. And San Antonio? It’s … uncertain. Keldon Johnson is listed as day-to-day with hamstring tightness. The franchise star, Victor Wembanyama and Devin Vassell, are both questionable due to knee injuries. The absence of Jeremy Sochan (out with a thumb injury) continues to leave a gap in their frontcourt, but the Spurs have had other players step up in their absence.

The Silver & Black came into the season surprising many. Of course, no one expected them to fall behind. Certainly not behind Wemby! But to actually see it play out was quite something. After an 8th win against the Jazz on Thursday, they’ve already matched last season’s win total by mid-November, a stark contrast to their struggles last November.

The addition of veteran Chris Paul has only made them that much more dangerous. The Spurs’ steady growth already has many wondering if this could be the season they finally make it to the playoffs. But first, they will have to go through a determined Warriors.

The depth chart of the Warriors as they look to continue their success

Behind the brilliance of Steph, leading the team in both points (22.7) and assists (6.6), and Green, who contributed with 5.7 assists of his own every game, the Dubs have made it clear that they are not going down without a fight. Furthermore, the return of Andrew Wiggins to his All-Star caliber has the franchise firing on all cylinders!

Not to mention, the addition of Buddy Hield has given them a much-needed offensive spark, especially from downtown. But what’s really been impressive is the team chemistry—Golden State’s unselfish ball movement and extra-pass mentality make them a dangerous squad once again.
