Victor Wembanyama is a player who is on close watch as he plays his rookie year, shifting through the mounting pressure and expectations. Despite this, he has proven himself to be someone that the
Spurs can rely on. Everything seems to be going well for the 7’4″ Frenchman as he aims for the Rookie of the Year title this season. However, it is paramount for him that some injuries do not hamper his journey to greatness; that would truly be the saddest story in the NBA. For now, the 19-year-old rookie is doing well on both ends of the court. On Sunday’s game against the
Nuggets, Wemby finished with 22 points, 11 rebounds and 6 steals. But the Spurs are now in dire straits as new information comes to light.Wemby is questionable for tonight vs the Hawks
As San Tom Orsborn of the Antonio Express-News reports, Wemby was surrounded by the medical staff during a shoot around this morning. It has now been confirmed that Wemby has been listed as questionable for tonight’s game vs the Hawks due to a right hip tightness. This is devastating news for the already suffering Spurs.

The Spurs are in what seems to be the lowest point currently, taking a beating in the form of a 12-game-losing streak. And it does not help them at all that the rookie prodigy made his first entry into the injury list. Before this, Wemby had played all 17 of the Spurs’ season games, averaging 19.2 points, 9.5 rebounds, and 2.6 assists.
Wemby’s potential absence tonight could weigh heavily on the Spurs
Numbers rarely lie, and Wemby is leading the team’s charts in points, rebounds, steals, and blocks. He has already made a huge impact for the Spurs; and amidst their deep slump, if Wemby sits out tonight’s game, the chances of securing a win against the Hawks could potentially be diminished.
