A trade does more than just send a fan’s favorite player away to go play with another team. It changes the landscape of the NBA as a whole. It alters the fabric of how the player will perform in the upcoming days. No matter whether it is for the better or the worse. On a personal level, it almost uproots the life of the player. Especially if he has devoted a significant number of years to a franchise, and made the home city his home too. Now, as Anthony Davis becomes the latest victim of an unexpected, uninformed change, doubts have crept in about the monstrous mansion he might leave behind in Hollywood.
It’s been more than 24 hours since the NBA world was sent through the driers over the seismic shift. Out of the blue, the Los Angeles Lakers and the Dallas Mavericks reached a deal to trade Anthony Davis, Max Christie, and a 2029 first-round pick for Luka Doncic, Maxi Kleber, and Markieff Morris. This means that after six years, ‘The Brow’s tenure in LA has finally come to an end. It also means the NBA star would have to make arrangements for his $31 million house in LA’s Bel-Air Crest area. In a highly populated city like Los Angeles, it isn’t easy to find a luxurious home with enough space to build an extended version of luxurious amenities. Thanks to his overall earnings, and a 3-year, $175.369 million contract, however, Davis has transformed several people’s dreams into reality for himself.
According to ‘celebrity.homes’, Anthony Davis’s LA Mansion was purchased in 2021, two years after he became subject to a trade to the Lakers. Boasting over 17,000 square feet of living space, it houses approximately 8 bedrooms and 11 bathrooms. The 900-square-foot two-story foyer stands out as a unique feature of the estate, along with an “extensive wine cellar” and an entertainment room that spands for 3000 square feet. If that isn’t enough, the house also holds a 4-car garage, a 120-foot size Olympic Swimming Pool, a tennis court, and even a batting cage. Are you getting jealous of listening to all of this?

Well, then it’s important to remember that this is the same Bel-Air Mansion that Anthony Davis will have to leave. After all, if his future lies with the Dallas Mavericks, then Texas is where he will reside from now on. You could question, ‘Can’t Anthony Davis’s family live in the mansion while the player is in Dallas’? Well, of course, they can. However, it’s important to remember that the distance between Los Angeles and Dallas is 1,437.8 miles. Traveling back and forth will take a toll on the player, and cut down on the time his wife and three children spent with him. Therefore, they will have no choice but to travel with him to Texas.
This chain of events will certainly complicate Davis’s family life. After all, if history is an indication, shifting from one city to the other comes with a massive adjustment period. Sonya Curry, mother of Stephen Curry, once highlighted the effects of a trade. Touching base on Dell’s trade to Charlotte, she stated, “It’s a huge adjustment. It’s just not what people see on TV when you go…. you show up at games, you’re looking fabulous. You’re traveling, doing all those kinds of things. No, it’s hard. It’s hard to find your footing in a new city. It wasn’t one of my favorite times being in the NBA. I’ll just leave it at that.”
While it is not for us to know, Anthony Davis’s family might not be happy with the shift. Especially since they just went through a traumatic experience.

A little before mid-January, Anthony Davis and the Lakers were in Texas before to compete, ironically, against the Dallas Mavericks. There, head coach JJ Redick revealed that his family home was destroyed. This was the consequence of the California Wildfires, which affected the people of Los Angeles for most of January. From celebrities to ordinary folks, several people lost their properties, with 29 people even losing their lives. By that point, reports emerged that the fire was being pushed to the northeast. This threatened the Brentwood and the Bel-Air area.
If Anthony Davis was worried, then he hadn’t needed to be. Nothing major happened to Davis’s $31 million mansion. Unfortunately, his family had to still evacuate, along with many others. In a statement, the Center revealed, “Obviously, you have kids and a wife and started freaking out. You get home and you kind of see it as we’re flying in and you kind of hear about – the first thing I heard about was JJ’s house – and then my wife started telling me about some of my daughter’s classmates, their families losing home and my daughter, where she goes rides horses was gone and some of my son’s classmate’s houses are gone. It started getting tough, started getting emotional.”
After everything that went down, the Davis family will now have to undergo another inconvenience. As for the house, whether the player will keep it or sell it off is something that remains to be seen.
