The Golden State Warriors handily beat the New York Knicks in their last game. Steph Curry continued his brilliant run of form, dropping 28 points. Draymond Green did well, too, almost dropping a triple-double after his disaster class against the Sixers. But the job was made easier for the Dubs since the Knick’s Karl-Anthony Towns missed the game. On his podcast, Green floated a wild reason that could explain KAT’s absence.
In the most recent episode of the Draymond Green Show, the Dubs veteran was discussing his team’s recent victory over New York with Baron Davis. They were discussing how well Jimmy Butler played in that game when Draymond said, “Obviously they [Knicks] ain’t have KAT. Some would say he didn’t play because Jimmy was in the building.” Intrigued, his co-host Baron Davis egged him on.
“Yeah, they say KAT ain’t play because Jimmy came into town. And you know Jimmy and him had the infamous practice in Minnesota,” said Green. He even dismissed Davis when he said KAT may have been hurt. ” I don’t know what was hurt. I didn’t look that deep into it to figure out like what his injury was or nothing like that, but you know,” he said.

It seems Draymond Green believes KAT was dodging playing against Jimmy Butler because of the infamous practice from 2018. This suggestion does seem quite wild at first.
But the conviction in Draymond’s words may give you pause. Most of you probably know about the practice he’s referring to. However, some of you may start to wonder, “What the hell happened in this practice?” So don’t worry; here’s a quick recap for you.
What’s your perspective on:
Did KAT really dodge Jimmy Butler, or is Draymond just stirring the pot for fun?

Jimmy Butler, Karl-Anthony Towns, and the infamous 2018 Minnesota Timberwolves practice
The year was 2018, and Jimmy Buckets had just requested a trade away from the Minnesota Timberwolves. But a month after his request, in October, Jimmy found himself in a team practice with the T-Wolves. But we all know the firecracker that is Jimmy Butler.

Almost instantly, he found himself at odds with who he called the most talented player on the Wolves roster- Karl-Anthony Towns. Per ESPN‘s Adrian Wojnarowski, Jimmy was relentless in trash-talking Towns and Andrew Wiggins. But he didn’t stop there. No, Butler escalated the situation by directing his chirping at head coach Tom Thibodeau and GM Scott Layden.
“You f—in need me, Scott! You can’t win without me!” screamed Jimmy Butler. All the while, he dominated the scrimmage, playing alongside third-string T-Wolves players. Players who hardly saw any action with the first team. Later, Butler told Rachel Nichols that KAT had started the trash-talk, and he was only matching his energy.

It was an iconic moment in the career of Jimmy Butler, who was traded to the Philadelphia 76ers soon after this incident. But Draymond chalking KAT’s absence to this practice still makes little sense. “We had practice. We got better. Everyone got better, and we left,” said Towns when asked about this incident. A nonchalant response from the man, clearly not indicative of someone who was afraid of Butler.

Moreover, Towns was listed as QUESTIONABLE due to personal reasons for the Dubs game. While we don’t know the reasons why, it still seems asinine to suggest that a practice from nearly 7 years ago is the cause. As it stands, it’s unclear why KAT missed the Warriors game. But who can say? Maybe Draymond knows something we don’t.
