LeBron James, nearing 40, shows up every game—what's Embiid's excuse for sitting out?

The Philly fans might have a message to their star player, Joel Embiid. The Philadelphia 76ers, who basically ticked all the boxes in the offseason, ended up having a horrible start to the season, losing two superstars to injuries ahead of the season opener. As they wait for an update on their possible debut this season, LeBron James’ latest update might worsen their situation.

After winning the Friday night game against the Phoenix Suns, the Lakers are 2-0 up already in the season. Next up, they face the Sacramento Kings in a back-t0-back setup tomorrow. Lately, with the load management in the picture, the stars’ availability for such games has left the fans worried. Notably, Joel Embiid had already surrendered in front of the media, saying that he’d doubt playing back-to-back games anymore in his career.

Amid this situation, LeBron James, who is pushing 40, confirmed that he will play tomorrow against the in-form Kings. Moreover, he also said, “I plan on playing every game.”

Stepping into his 22nd season, King James is currently on par with Vince Carter for playing most seasons in the league. However, the only difference is that the Akron Hammer is still at the top of his game. While he may have slowed down a bit compared to his prime time with the Miami Heat, he has evened it out with his basketball IQ. It’s safe to say that the LA fans can pat their backs for having a superstar of this stature, sticking to his work ethic and discipline, religiously.

Meanwhile, Joel Embiid, with whom the rest of the 76ers roster is centered around, is yet to make his season debut. Importantly, he missed a major portion of last season with a knee injury. It’s high time that the Sixers rethink their plan for the franchise going forward.

The longevity aspect is something that puts the superstar on a pedestal. No other player in the history of the league has put up a competitive effort on the court in their 22nd season. Notably, many stories floating online reported the amount that LeBron James spends on his fitness. The latest claimed that the superstar spends around $1.5 million on his fitness, which includes trainers, equipment, chefs, nutritionists, and plenty of other features.

However, we didn’t hear it from the man himself until he chose to respond to it in the latest docuseries, Starting 5. The 39-year-old, who will turn 40 in December, spoke about the ongoing rumors about his fitness expenses. Well, guess what, he decided to keep the rumors brewing, as he swore not to disclose the expense ever.

On the other hand, James truly believes in conditioning that is keeping him active on the court even after two decades of hard toil. Speaking ahead of the 2022-23 season, he said, “The one thing that I’m doing right now is continuing to work on my conditioning, where I can play as many consecutive minutes [as possible] out on the floor and not get tired or if I get tired, being able to get my second wind faster than my competition.” So, how long do you think LeBron James will play in the league?
