Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund clashed to secure the prestigious Champions League trophy. Among the millions of viewers, NBA’s Luka Doncic, who himself secured a Finals spot, has been an avid supporter of Real Madrid for a long time, tuned in too. It was also highlighted by the Mavs coach Jason Kidd, who once stated, “If you want to get Luka to talk, you talk Real Madrid. If you want to piss him off, you talk about Barcelona!” The Slovenian notably spent over 3 years of his life playing for the Real Madrid basketball side before entering the US. Showcasing his loyalty, he freed up some time and made it a point to cheer on! And he wasn’t alone!

A few hours ago, he took to his official Instagram handle to highlight a memory for his 9.2 million followers. It featured Doncic preparing himself to witness the highly anticipated UCL finale. He showcased two Los Blancos jerseys; one for himself and another for his daughter Gabriela. Sadly, Doncic couldn’t make it to the Wembley. However, Seth Curry and Joel Embiid, the latter who has been absent from the spotlight ever since the 76ers were eliminated in the first playoff round, were in attendance.

However, his love for Real Madrid, made him fly all the way to England and participate in the pre-game show. On set, the NBA pro had a few light-hearted moments with soccer vets like Jamie Carragher and Micah Richards. Along with that, Embiid was one among many constantly active on social media to share live updates of the game.

Seth’s brother, Stephen Curry, couldn’t make it too, probably because it’s too soon after his fourth child was born. However, the Warriors were still represented by Draymond Green. Just like Embiid, he too featured on the pre-game show, with his 8-year-old son Draymond Jamal Jr. aka ‘DJ’ tagging right behind him. On the other hand, Jimmy Butler, who also missed out on being there in person because of a severe injury, watched the football clash from the comfort of his home.

With so many members of the NBA fraternity present, it is safe to say that Real Madrid did not face a lack of support at all.

Luka Doncic, and Joel Embiid, among millions to celebrate Los Blancos fever

As always, Real Madrid did not disappoint. While Dortmund seemed to have the edge in the first half, their rivals caught up eventually. Dani Carvajal took the lead, as the La Liga side were able to secure a goal during the 74 minute. Later on, a mistake by Ian Maatsen ended up handing the ball to Vinicius Jr, who doubled Madrid’s lethal lead.

This was a reference to Real Madrid’s popular anthem, which was released after their 10 UCL title. Joel Embiid also couldn’t contain his excitement and wrote, “HALA MADRID!!!!!!!” twice in two separate tweets. Initially, Real Madrid had congratulated Doncic on reaching the NBA Finals.
