Paul George: A traitor to Clippers Nation or just another player chasing a ring?

The NBA fans can get really sore after betrayals. And every off-season paves the way for some trouble or the other. This off-season, it was Paul George‘s turn. The star ended his 5-year stint with the LA Clippers and moved to the East, joining hands with the Sixers. While the fans back in LA seemed disappointed with the trade, they’ve shown the first signs of resentment after PG’s return to the city.

Paul George made his first public appearance in Los Angeles after his trade at the Uninterrupted Film Festival, representing his podcast. He also met the press outside the event and spoke about his latest move to Philly. Importantly, PG spoke about his new home fans, saying, “I am looking forward to the fans. Fans are very passionate about the sports. So you wanna play for that and be part of that. They got a lot of history of winning and coaches.”

This definitely wasn’t received well by the ones back in LA. One of them wrote, Hope Clipper nation rocks out the day that snake (emoji) pulls up to the intuit.” Moreover, he further added salt to the wound when the Podcast P with Paul George gang along with rapper Lil Dicky, who joined the team as a guest, decided on the new nickname for the star in front of the LA crowd. The rapper, after a drumroll, dropped the nickname, saying, “Gorgeous George, and every time he hits a three, it’s gorgeous.”

However, George read the room and said, “I see some thumbs down.”

Things could escalate really badly for the star if he doesn’t address the growing tension among the LA fans. Notably, George could even end up like Kyrie Irving, who is struggling to get a win in TD Garden. Maybe the star could have a similar reception in the all-new Intuit Dome?

Fans predict a gloomy future for Paul George

Have an interesting take?

Paul George could have spoken about anything, but not about the Philly fans in LA. All hell broke loose and the LA fans lined up in the comments, hinting at PG’s future. Especially after he claimed that Philly fans are “passionate, ” a fan wrote, “Can’t wait for Philly fans to boo the f*** outta him.” Another fan even prescribed therapy for the star, as they wrote, “This brother will need therapy 5 games in.”

Well, the LA fans are certainly not far from the truth. The Philly faithful have a history of booing their own players in the past! Most recently, the Sixers had to overcome boos in the play-in tournament game against the Miami Heat when they managed to clinch the seventh seed. So whether the fans remind him or not, PG is heading for some sort of criticism if he doesn’t play well.

Notably, Ben Simmons, the former Sixers player, did have something interesting to say about the fan base. He said, “That Philly fan base is fu*king tough, man. It just is. They have the toughest fan base. That is the toughest place to play in the NBA,” in his podcast.

On the other hand, another fan reminded everyone that it is not just the Philly fans who will boo him. Reacting to a video of Paul George entering the film festival, a fan wrote, “Why don’t I hear them boos.” This comment proved only one thing George’s going to have a tough time playing at the City of Brotherly Love as well as Los Angeles.
