Anthony Edwards shines bright amid Team USA’s dominant run. The hoopers played their last group stage game against Puerto Rico and recorded yet another blowout win. While every game had a star breaking through, it was Ant-Man’s turn in this game. The star guard dropped 26 points in 17 minutes, which also included an expansive showpiece at the end. However, the 22-year-old doesn’t seem to have had enough. Following the game, he was humble enough to address his flaw and set up his masterplan for the knockouts.
Considering Puerto Rico’s run in the tournament, everyone expected Team USA to have a sure-shot victory. Despite a fumble in the first quarter, the team went on to record a 21-point blow win. Ant-Man stole the limelight and backed it up with an expansive windmill dunk late in the game, leaving the arena to explode with a loud cheer. Even LeBron James raised his hands in celebration, accompanying a broad smile from Kevin Durant.
Around the 9th minute mark in the last quarter, Anthony Edwards intercepted a Puerto Rican pass and stole the ball. It was enough. He jetted off to the rim and dropped a windmill dunk. Speaking of it after the game, Edwards said, “I already told KD, after the timeout, if I get a break, I’m gonna windmill it. I wanted to go between the legs, but I didn’t try it in a minute, so I ain’t gonna embarrass myself.”

Moreover, the Wolves guard revealed his plans as they advanced in the tournament, as he seemed unsatisfied. Ant-Man added, “I wanna dunk on somebody, but I didn’t get the lane yet. I’m glad I got that one. Hopefully, I catch somebody in the next three games!” Notably, Team USA has finished the group stage as the No.1 seed and will face Brazil in the quarter-finals. Even though Anthony Edwards seemed confident about his game, the rising superstar addressed his ‘sloppiness’on the court.
Anthony Edwards reveals what he needs to “clean up” as Team USA target Gold
To be precise, it’s never dull when Anthony Edwards is on the court. The rising superstar has the infectious ability to electrify the game at any given moment. Notably, the star’s 2023-24 season run for the Minnesota Timberwolves and providing them their first-ever playoff series win in 20 years stands tall as proof. Moreover, speaking of him, coach Steve Kerr, after the Puerto Rico game, said, “Anthony can score anytime in any situation, and so the benefit of having a guy like that is in a tight situation, you need a shot, he can get one…as he continues to learn how to use it and be efficient in his play, he will be unguardable.”
While it’s all praise for the youngster, he also has a major flaw and the beauty of it is that Edwards addressed it himself. Speaking of the team’s progress, Ant-Man said, “We’re playing good, gotta clean up sloppy turnovers, on my behalf. Pass the ball a little more, defend a little better, but we’ll be alright.”
Notably, a few days ago, Anthony Edwards’ former teammate, D’Angelo Russell, addressed the same fault in a podcast, saying, “He can learn how to pass a little better, but I think he’s flawless. To be honest, yeah, he’s a flawless NBA player.”
