Skip Bayless’ Surprising Birthday Wish for LeBron James on Turning 39 Has Fans in Wonder

LeBron James has entered his 40th year of life on the 30th. And as can be expected, the wishes are flowing in for the good health and prosperity of the King. But what has grabbed everybody’s attention is his biggest critic’s heart-warming wish. None other than Skip Bayless, who decided to shower love for his regular prey on X (formerly Twitter).

Bayless posted a surprisingly sweet wish for LeBron, bringing attention to his youthfulness even at 39. “Happy Birthday, LeBron! 39 going on 29! Miraculous!” he wrote. While James himself might consider this a nice gesture, the Lakers legend’s fans are not so open-hearted! One user just gave it straight to Skip, calling him out on his “fake love”.

Another one pointed out that Bayless was keeping this shtick up so that he could continue his over-criticism.

Yet another user finds it extremely hard to believe. He is convinced that he must be drunk or not in his right mind to see Skip Bayless actually wishing Bron a “miraculous” birthday!

Another one seems to be genuinely in search of some answers as he questions Skip as to the motive behind the sudden change of tune.

And finally, TNP has a hilarious reaction, “Can’t find the backhanded compliment here!”

We cannot really blame these hardcore fans for such reactions. Even with all of Bayless’ admissions that he is simply being neutral when it comes to giving opinions, there have been numerous occasions that contradict his statement. The most recent of the same happened in the Lakers win over the Hornets on Thursday.

Bayless’ relentless criticism of LeBron James

Since their In-Season Tournament victory, the Purple and Gold have had a tough time getting back on track. While the back-to-back road trips are a major factor, it’s still not enough to provide a solid reason. Since the IST win, the Lakers have played a total of nine games (not including tonight). And out of the nine, they have lost six, with a four-game losing streak in the mix.

Bayless has used all the occasions to take a dig or make a jab at Bron or LA. Back to the recent instance, the Lakers managed to subdue a struggling Charlotte at 133-112 after a loss to the Celtics. In true Skip fashion, he turned the sigh of relief into a walk of shame.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), he said, “LeBron and the Lakers looked pretty good tonight … at home … against 7-22 Charlotte.” 

In true LeBron James fashion, he continues to ignore the Undisputed analyst. Whether the ‘Akron Hammer’ takes motivation from this or simply shuts it out as outside noise is, at best, speculative. Suffice it to say, the comments that are still coming in after Skip’s (heartfelt?) birthday wish are in a way justified.

At least for the Lakers and LeBron fans!
