The fans as well as the analysts were disappointed as they did not get to witness the showdown between Joel Embiid and Nikola Jokic on Saturday. According to sources, Embiid was suffering a left knee soreness due to which he was ruled out of the game minutes before the tipoff. But now this has started looking like a pattern for the reigning MVP because this match marks the fourth game he has missed against the Denver Nuggets.

Regardless of Embiid’s absence, the Joker did not slow down and showed off his skill set against the Sixers, achieving a double-double of 26 points and 16 rebounds and emerging as the key player for the Nuggets. This has led fans to believe that if Embiid was a part of this contest, the outcome would’ve been in favor of the City of Brotherly Love. But, Philly’s veteran guard Patrick Beverley said that his team had got enough talent but they couldn’t win because the Sixers’ performance was “Not good enough”.

Beverley even spoke about the absence of Embiid and how it shouldn’t affect the Sixers, stating, “We have to find ways to win games without guys playing. We got enough talent around the room to get the job done and we came up short tonight, and they shot 38 free throws.” However, fans still believe that if Embiid had played, the result would’ve been different because he has won 6 out of the 8 matches he played against the Nuggets. But, a former NBA player gave a very surprising stat about Joel Embiid, which gave clarity about his stats against the Joker.

Joel Embiid has not played in Denver since 2019

Former NBA player Kendrick Perkins provided an interesting stat about Joel Embiid before the game even commenced. He said that Nikola Jokic has been going down to Philadelphia and competing against the 76ers and Embiid with all his might. But on the flip side, Embiid hasn’t visited Denver since 2019 and has mostly played against the Joker on his home court.

While this may be a coincidence, the numbers however are in Embiid’s favour. The 7x All-Stars’ offensive attributes are stronger, as he averages 27.6 points per game compared to Jokic’s 22.3. Even in rebounding, Embiid has a tiny lead with 11.3 boards per game, while Jokic has 10.1. However, when it comes to playmaking, Jokic outperforms Embiid, with 6.9 assists per game to Embiid’s 4.4.
