The new Sixer, Paul George, recently appeared for his introductory press conference. The 9x All-Star signed a four-year, $212 million contract with the Sixers. Teaming up with Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey, George has solidified the Sixers’ roster, making them one of the top contenders. On the other hand, he also opened up about the contracts the Clippers offered in the span of the last two years, some of which he found disrespectful. Despite this, leaving LA was not initially one of his options, but the move to Philly seems to align with his goals.
Expressing his excitement at the press conference, George said, “I think we got a real legitimate shot. I’ve always been a fan of Tyrese and Joel from afar. And Joel has secretly been one of my closest All-Star game friends so, you know, it kind of felt inevitable that at some point we will link up and be teammates. So, you know, I’m all in, my family’s here all in and I’m excited.” PG13’s return to the East is highly anticipated.

George had the most consistent season of his career last year, while Maxey and Embiid also had successful seasons, although they fell short in the first round.

This is George’s third team following his long stint with the Pacers. Teaming up with Westbrook and others didn’t pan out as expected. Joining Leonard in LA worked well initially, but Kawhi’s subsequent injuries left George to shoulder the load alone. Although George has been a free-agent star multiple times, what can we expect from him as a Sixer?

Players like Oubre and Caleb Martin, along with Embiid and Maxey, complement the roster well. The fact that the Sixers now have three elite scorers puts them on top of the contender list.
