Tyrese Maxey is having a standout season. From his first All-Star appearance to brilliant performances, Maxey has been a blessing for a team that was sure to have gotten a straight ticket to the playoffs. Unfortunately, Joel Embiid‘s injuries set Philly behind. Yet, they have a record of 41-27 with Maxey on the court while averaging 115.5 points per game. Without him, the record falls to 3-8 with an average of 108.2 points.

As the Pistons get ready to face the tough crowd at the Wells Fargo Center at 7:00 PM ET, let’s take a look at the home team’s injury report. Joel Embiid (knee), Tobias Harris (knee), Kyle Lowry (knee), and Tyrese Maxey (hip) have the ‘Questionable’ tag on them. But a silver lining is that De’Anthony Melton (back) has also been upgraded to questionable. Robert Covington, however, continues to be ‘Out’.

As of now, the Philadelphia 76ers are the seventh-seeded team with a 44-35 record and just one game behind the Pacers for the sixth position. The fact that they are on a five-game winning streak and facing the Detroit Pistons tonight should be a great motivator. The Pistons are, undoubtedly, the worst team this season. Ranking at the bottom with a 13-65 record and a four-game losing streak isn’t exactly the best position to be in when facing a team like the Sixers.

The Pistons’ terrible luck continues as their injury report isn’t promising. Cade Cade Cunningham (knee) is questionable and Evan Fournier (knee) is probable. Except for these two, the rest – Simone Fontecchio (toe), Quentin Grimes (knee), Isaiah Stewart (hamstring), Ausar Thompson (illness), and Stanley Umude (ankle) remain sidelined.

While it’s true that Philadelphia will be in a matchup, that is arguably a sealed deal, the crucial juncture at which they are makes tonight somewhat of a stressful scenario. They have only two more games (without considering the Pistons) left to clinch a playoff position. And after Detroit, Joel Embiid and Co. will be facing the third-seeded Orlando Magic on Friday.

Under such circumstances, there are chances for coach Nick Nurse to not completely rest all the superstars. Keeping in mind that the usual starters will suit up, here’s how the lineup should look like tonight. Tyrese Maxey, Kyle Lowry, Kelly Oubre Jr., Tobias Harris, and Joel Embiid. In case the questionable players do not suit up, Cam Payne, Buddy Hield, and Nic Batum will probably see more minutes in their stead.

As for the Pistons, Monty Williams will probably be starting with Marcus Sasser, Jaden Ivey, Troy Brown Jr., Tosan Evbuomwan, and Jalen Duren. Helping them will be Malachi Flynn, Chimezie Metu, and James Wiseman. Well, we can be sure that the Pistons will be looking to take advantage of the unavailability of two superstars tonight. If they do indeed sit out, that is.
