Dallas Wings hosted the Indiana Fever on the home court after defeating them in the away fixture. After a magnificent second quarter, they entered the second half with a 54-46 lead. They managed to hold on to it right until their center, Teaira McCowan, committed a comical act.
With slightly more than five minutes left on the clock, the Fever forward NaLyssa Smith charged towards the basket. The former employer of the away team tried to block her but ended up fouling her in the process. Right after that, she spat on the court, resulting in a technical foul.
The 26-year-old shocked the commentators and fans alike as the call against her was fair by the rulebook. Dallas ended up calling her to the bench. Wings eventually lost the match, leading to their third defeat in the last five games. This makes us question one thing.

Her technical foul came at a crucial phase of the game. Indiana was trying their best to close the gap in point, and Teaira’s departure from the court helped them do so. From that point onwards, the hosts lost the momentum of the game as Indiana recorded 31 points in the quarter.
