This Sunday, Chris Paul achieved a historic feat as he overtook Jason Kidd as the second-highest assist provider of all time. However, apart from dishing out assists the 12x NBA All-Star is also well known for his on-court antics, especially his trash-talking, which has even landed Paul in headlines multiple times.
Regardless of the media image, Paul says he’s never the one to initiate the smack-talking. Whatever the reality is, it certainly has put a strain on the veteran’s relationship with Sixers star Paul George who in his podcast’s recent episode revealed how an on-court exchange between the two disintegrated their relationship. George said, “You know I’m not fond of CP these days. Me and CP we used to have a great relationship right.”
He further talked about how close the two were before the incident, so much so that they would call each other at any time but that is now changed. He stated, “And so now fast forward to a playoff match against Phoenix or it was a regular season game can’t remember which one it was, but we getting to it. And words were a little you how I mean the words were throwing out there between you mean between two men, and I’m one of those once you’re on one side stay in there.”

While Paul George did not reveal the exact exchange however it seemed to be a heated one, and although he commended the Spurs guard’s competitive nature he questioned where all of that comes from. He said, “I don’t know if that’s the little man syndrome but he definitely have that competitive nature.” The 6′ 8″ NBA star took a dig at CP3 suggesting the reason for talking dirty might be related to his height insecurity. However, this wasn’t CP’s first rodeo as he has been involved in many such incidents, let’s see how the 38-year-old perceives this tag.
“I ain’t like a guy that talks junk,” Chris Paul suggests he doesn’t like to start verbal wars
Chris Paul has been in the NBA long enough and we all have witnessed countless CP3 smack-talking moments. But recently, while the veteran was on the Draymond Green show, he stated he doesn’t engage in an exchange unless someone really pushes him. Paul said, “I ain’t like a guy that talk junk. You know what I’m saying? And you see now, like, I ain’t really on that unless you on that. I always said I never say nothing first,”

The veteran has had several encounters including one against Patrick Beverley, and most recently he was also involved in an exchange with Jimmy Butler in a preseason game. However, he is well aware that this has become something other players have started using against him so he admitted that he has learnt to say nothing back. Well, at times, at least.
“But in competition, I’m here cuz if somebody say something, I ain’t going to know when to stop, and we going to go wherever it got to go,” Paul further added. He stated a majority of it has to do with not knowing when to stop and that could harm him as well and so it’s better to not let anyone put him. Well, it does seem to be for a better cause as this competitive nature has been both a blessing and also a curse for the veteran.
