The raves about Victor Wembanyamam were all authentic and potent. The NBA might have never seen a prospect quite like him. At 7’4″, he has translated his game into the NBA almost instantaneously. Currently leading the ROTY race, Wembanyama is averaging the most blocks in his first year. Players have marveled over what might he become. However, there might be another Wemby in the making.
When the San Antonio Spurs drafted Wembanayama, he was accompanied by his family. A boy in a black, well-fitted suit was one of the first to congratulate him. That was his 16-year-old brother, Oscar Wembanyama. At that young age, he is beginning to command attention from NBA scouts due to his fascinating size and potential.
During the recent episode of Podcast P, Paul George and his co-hosts reacted to the possibility of having another Wembanyama in the NBA.

Paul George awaits the arrival of the younger brother of Victor Wembanyama
George, during the one-year celebratory podcast, was discussing the rightful recipients of certain NBA awards. They were in the midst of discussing the race for the Rookie of The Year, an exhilarating battle between Thunder’s Chet Holmgren and Victor Wembanyama. Everyone was in unison picking Wemby to take the honors home despite the Spurs’ awful record. That’s when one of the co-hosts opened up another Wembanyama chest.
“I just found out Wemby has a little brother,” said the co-host on Podcast P. “Bro, he is 6’8″, he is sixteen years old. He plays for the France national team. There is going to be a baby alien coming in,”.
The entire panel almost gasped in disbelief while hearing the list of his metrics. Paul George was however confused since he hadn’t seen any film or video footage of Oscar Wembanyama playing. There’s good reasons for it.
Oscar is only 16 years old. He began his professional basketball journey a year and a half ago. Unlike his elder brother, Victor Wembanyama, the small forward isn’t as marvelous a prospect. Yet, the upside is palpable. After lifting the U15 championship, the 16-year-old was signed to the ASVEL youth team.

He has ascended to the U-21 team in that short span. Currently, his averages won’t give the impression of him being a solid prospect for the future. Oscar Wembanyama is averaging just 2.3 points and 2.7 rebounds. However, people often discount the fact that he is a boy playing amongst men.
According to the NBA Draft Room’s 2027 mock draft, the 6’8″ forward is projected to be the 24th pick in the first round. He is currently ranked 9th amongst the small forwards of his class. In the limited access of his game footage, Oscar Wembanyama looks quick with a swift handle and a natural acumen to block shots, a trait akin to his elder brother.
There is still ample time for the 16-year-old to develop and grow. His hype might not echo as strongly as Victor Wembanyama, but he has the dimensions that scream of an NBA player. What’s most amusing is that the Spurs could have the opportunity to team up the two brothers. From 2026 to 2027, the Spurs have four first-round picks and seven second-round picks. That’s a lot of selections.
