“But now, you get replaced like a pair of shoes.” Wait! Did Jaylen Brown just diss Nike? Well, that’s what most fans are speculating after the Celtics star dropped his latest song ‘Just Do It’ in collaboration with A$AP Ferg. At this point, JB’s hatred for the Swoosh brand is an open secret ever since he publicly blamed them for his Team USA snub. If it wasn’t clear before, he has doubled down on the diss track allegations by nodding to Jordan brand’s first signature athlete Carmelo Anthony’s latest fiery thoughts on the issue.
Reacting to Jaylen Brown’s new song possibly being a diss toward Nike, Melo said, “I f**k with it, from a standpoint of having your own voice. Taking your own stance and like standing on what you think is not right. I f**k with it from that standpoint.” While the Knicks legend appreciated the Celt’s fearless attitude, the Finals MVP reciprocated the gesture by sharing Melo’s comments on his Instagram story! Although there was NO caption, just sharing the video said a lot about JB’s stance.
Well, it might very well have been a diss track targeting Nike as the title itself is identical to the brand’s tagline. Moreover, Jaylen Brown has not shied away from calling out the sneaker giants in the past. The first time it happened was two years ago when Nike cut all ties with his former teammate Kyrie Irving, which made JB question, “Since when did Nike care about ethics?”

The beef caught fire once again after Jaylen Brown tweeted, “Nike this what we doing?” following his Olympics snub. When asked if he believed the brand was responsible, he openly said, “I do for sure. There will be more stuff to come with that.” Maybe this diss track was what the Celt was referring to as “more stuff to come.” Moreover, this is not the first time Melo has stood up for JB!
Carmelo Anthony claims Jaylen Brown deserved a shot amid Team USA snub
While it remains unproven if Nike had anything to do with Jaylen Brown not making the Paris Olympics roster, it cannot be denied that the Celtics star deserved a spot on the team. Especially after he just won a championship and became a Finals MVP a few months ago. Sure enough, Melo also shared the same sentiment during a recent interview. “I think he should’ve got a shot. For whatever reason it is, you can’t make it that obvious,” the hoops legend said.
Moreover, the Jordan athlete had nothing but praise for JB’s work ethic, saying, “This man busts his a**, he works hard. He takes everything that people say about him: ‘he’s not marketable, he’s not this, he’s not that.’ Then, he go win a championship and do it the way he did it. How he don’t get a shot at the USA team?” As Jaylen Brown’s beef with Nike continues to escalate with the constant jabs from the Celtics star, maybe the next step for him would be to no longer be a sneaker-free agent and sign with a rival brand.
