And it has huge ramifications for the entire league, not just Charlotte!
Mark Williams returns to the Hornets after Lakers trade gets nixed
After trading away Anthony Davis for Luka Doncic, the Los Angeles Lakers were in the market for a big. They ended up deciding to go for Mark Williams, giving up Dalton Knecht, Cam Reddish, a 2030 pick swap, and a 2031 first-round pick. Well, that deal is in the water now.
The Lakers released a statement on Saturday night, revealing that the trade for Mark Williams had fallen through. ESPN’s Shams Charania reported that Williams failed his physical for the Lakers. The Hornets provided everyone with a statement as well, welcoming back Mark Williams with open arms.

Now that this deal has fallen through, Cam Reddish and Dalton Knecht, like Williams, will return to their former club. Hence, their mention in the injury report. Although this deal won’t affect the Hornets too much, the Lakers will be quite distressed by its failure.

They are now lacking options at center once more. And they’ll need to rely on Jaxson Hayes to start with two-way players Christian Koloko and Trey Jemison III acting as rotation options. What’s worse is they will now have to waive a player to even have a chance at signing a player from the buyout market.
