Jamal Crawford is considered as the best player and ball handler in NBA history. The three time NBA Sixth Man of the Year has made immense contributions to the sport. With the spectacular skills that he exhibited throughout his illustrious NBA career, Crawford garnered the admiration of players and fans alike. Yet, the one thing that remains elusive is the biggest honor in the NBA : Hall of Fame induction.

For long Crawford has been very low on the probability scale for receiving this. But in recent times, talks of a possible induction have been getting louder. And many former players, including the now-Dallas Mavericks head coach Jason Kidd, have endorsed Jamal’s candidature.

In a press conference yesterday, the Mavericks guard was asked to share his thoughts on Jamal’s inclusion on the list of potential honorees. Kyrie admitted that Crawford deserves it and added, “Some players that deserve to be in the Hall of Fame, you know, they aren’t. But for me, it is an incredible moment to see someone as selfless as Jamal to be inducted or to be up for the induction.”

Irving also expressed how proud he was that Jamal could win, adding, “I am happy for his family. And again he deserves it. He’s done far more off the court than he has done on-court. He has helped a lot of us young guys out that doesn’t get any media attention. It doesn’t get any attention from our peers.”

Jamal Crawford’s role in shaping the future of the league

Kyrie acknowledged the fact that Jamal has helped many of the present NBA players. He stated, “I was definitely one of those guys that he took under his wing. I wouldn’t say I idolized him, I would say I enjoyed watching him.” He went on to highlight the moments when the veteran had been there for him. “Few times when I was having emotions about the game of basketball and not making the shots, not winning enough or not having the clarity that you need, the peace of mind, he has been the person that I could call, I could go to.”

Irving also added that whenever he wanted to, he would visit Jamal at his home in Seattle and spend time with his family. The 31 year-old added how rare it was to see people like Jamal in the world. People who don’t really care about who you are or what your status is. With Kyrie’s endorsement also in his bag, fans are eagerly watching out to see how this will unfold.
