The James Harden trade saga continues to escalate as the days pass. After Harden publicly called Daryl Morey a liar on a promotional tour in China, he doubled down on his comments by stating that his relationship with Morey had been damaged beyond repair.

NBA decided to step into the situation and fined Harden a massive $100,000 for his comments saying it violated the league’s ‘Public Trade Demands’ rule. This decision did not sit well with the NBA players, and the NBPA has united to support James Harden despite his comments.

After their investigation, NBA said that Harden’s comments in China and Houston indicated “that he would not perform the services called for under his player contract unless traded to another team.” The Beard made it clear in China that he would not be associated with any organization that Daryl Morey is a part of. After averaging 21 points and 10.7 assists with the 76ers last season, the former MVP demanded a trade and expressed his desire to play with Kawhi Leonard in LA. According to Harden, Daryl Morey promised to expedite the trade, but eventually, the Sixers shut down all trade talks, planning to bring Harden back for training camp.

This led to Harden calling the Sixers President a liar on a public platform. After the NBA’s fine on Harden, the National Basketball Players Association has decided to file a grievance disputing the fine. NBPA issued a statement, “We respectfully disagree with the league’s decision to discipline James Harden for recent comments he made, which we believe do not violate the rule against public trade demands.”
