Kevin Durant staying single—Is he dodging drama or missing out on true love?

One of the most humble and comical athletes in the NBA, Kevin Durant is equally astonishing on the court with his scoring abilities. Recognized as a future Hall of Famer, Durant’s personal life has always been a mystery to the community. No one has quite relevantly known his connections/relationships. The veteran was once engaged to Monica Wright, a basketball coach and ex-player, but the couple parted ways in 2014. Although there’ve been speculations ever since the man himself has now revealed his relationship status.

On the Impaulsive’ podcast with Logan Paul alongside IShowSpeed, KD was asked why he was single. In response, he clearly replied, saying, “I don’t want a girlfriend.” Further, when IShowSpeed guessed that the 2x NBA champion had his heart broken, Kevin Durant responded, “I wouldn’t say I had my heart broken. I’ve uh..I started to understand women a little bit more as I well early on I understood that like she’s not mine.”

The nuances of a romantic relationship resonating with young hearts all across the globe echoed in Kevin Durant’s words when he further added, “Even if she may be my girlfriend, she might be influenced by other people.”

However, Logan’s co-host interrupted Kevin, citing that the 2x NBA All-Star was measuring himself quite low on the love scale. Durant continued that he doesn’t mind love till everything is going well. However, in case the opposite partner is “venturing off,” he will not hesitate to go the other way. So, the Suns’ star would accept the fact that it is what it is.

Back in April, Monica Wright was speaking to Essence about her broken engagement with Kevin Durant. She was open to talking about the same, as she said, “Yeah, in my last relationship [with NBA All-Star Kevin Durant], I had to make a decision about compromising myself as a woman. I had to make a decision to leave a relationship, which a lot of people thought I was crazy to leave. There was a lot of criticism over it. But I think God had my back in it.”

You may now wonder what the NBA star said about all this. Well, he had spoken about this relationship in 2015 itself. “I had a fiancée, but…I really didn’t know how to, like, love her, you know what I’m saying? We just went our separate ways,” he admitted. So, as per various forums and no concrete updates from KD, he’s perceived to be single ever since. What about the controversy from a few months ago?

Have an interesting take?

An Instagram story of Kevin Durant went viral in March this year that mentioned reasons why he was still single. It was not known if it came out in the original story or not. However, the screenshot of that text went viral on the internet with a verified account stamp of Kevin Durant. Even NBA Central shared that screenshot on its X account. It was a matter of intrigue for the community since they wanted to know why their 2x NBA Champion wasn’t seen around with a better half.

However, that building of hope came down shattering when Durant revealed on Logan Paul’s podcast that it all was fake. “So, you think I really actually made that list? I did not share that though,” he said. KD candidly exposed the truth that “somebody photoshopped” that text to make it look like KD shared it. Rather, he did not even know about it in the beginning.

At last, the truth came out: it was nothing but a farce. So next time any tweet circulates on social media regarding Kevin Durant’s relationship status, you better check it thoroughly!
