Preseason games are in full swing. The teams are also getting their game faces on. Prior to the Miami Heat vs. Charlotte Hornets game on the 11th, Jimmy Butler is on fire during practice. He looks ready to do some damage.

The Hornets aren’t particularly the most efficient teams in the NBA. LaMelo Ball’s addition did work some magic in the popularity department and 3-point streak. LaMelo was already a celebrity long before joining the NBA. That’s what happens when you have celebrity older brothers and a media-savvy father. Apart from that, Ball’s position in the Hornets leaves a lot to be desired.

Butler‘s flair for dramatics has always entertained fans, even fellow teammates. No one is quite sure what he will say or do the next second. Unpredictable? Certainly. Loose cannon? Unlikely. Prior to the “gladiator” mode, “Playoff Jimmy” was in “emo” mode. When questioned about his latest look on the Heat media day, his response was that he is very emotional right now and the emo state is what he is feeling as of late. With Butler switching his hairstyles faster than K-pop, the league is in a constant state of confusion.

But, there is more to Jimmy’s love for new looks than simply being viral. Talking to The Ringer, his hairstylist Jessica “Diamond” Dart says, “When he thinks something is off the wall, he’ll want to try it. He doesn’t just try things because he wants to go viral.”

Each hairstyle signifies a specific chapter in Butler’s life. And he wants each one to be unique and special. Who wouldn’t want to make special memories of their significant achievements, especially when they are the result of blood and sweat?
