Like Michael Jordan and Larry Bird, Stephen Curry too is an avid golfer. If Curry is not sinking long-range bombs on the hardwood floor, there is a good chance that the four-time NBA champion is sinking golf balls on the course. Like many of the greats who have blessed the game of basketball, Curry too shares the same competitive spirit. And that often translates to the golf course as well.

So, when asked about the similarities between golf and basketball, this is what Curry had to say.

His Airness and Larry Legend have both enjoyed spending off-time on the golf course, perfecting their drives. From Charles Barkley to Golden State Warriors‘ Klay Thompson, many NBA players have taken up this hobby. Steph was no different. Recently, the All-Star point guard sat down for a revealing interview. Curry and sports anchor Nick Camino talked about multiple things pertaining to both golf and basketball. During the interview, Camino asked Curry if there were similarities between golf and basketball.

Camino brought up how the Chicago Bulls‘ GOAT plays every day. Even the Boston Celtics legend is a member of a couple of clubs. So, Camino brought up a question about any competitive similarities between the two sports.

To that, Curry said, ?There is. For the greatest athletes, you have to win the battle between the ears.”

Curry explained that the real challenge for athletes is the mental battle. He continued, “And I know what golf is, that?s the biggest challenge in terms of all the swing thoughts that come to your head and trying to master your swing and how humbling the game is because one day you could have it and the next day it could be totally the opposite.?

Curry talks about the competitive spirit

Stephen Curry went on to talk about the competitive spirit that a professional athlete has within him, regardless of what sport he is playing. And how that would translate into other sports as well.

Curry went on to add, ?So, there?s a competition within yourself that is fun…?But then, the only big difference in golf, you get to kind of pick your team every day, depending on who you want to play with.?

As someone who has played his entire NBA career with one team, it seems that Steph prefers mixing things up while playing golf at least.

?So yeah, I guess getting lost in that space out there for four hours and trying to master the game, it scratches the competitive itch that we love to do in basketball as well,??explained the 4-time champion.?

Now, according to Curry?s statement, one can assume that he would like to win in golf just like he does in the NBA. So, it is safe to assume that competitiveness does not go away, even in a different sport.
