The 2024 Western Conference All-Star starting lineup took fans by surprise. Dallas’ Luka Doncic and OKC’s Shai Gilgeous-Alexander were selected as the two guards in the starting lineup. Shai dethroned Golden State Warriors superstar Stephen Curry, who has been headlining the All-Star game for many years.
The OKC Thunder superstar also surpassed Anthony Edwards, who has led the Minnesota Timberwolves to one of the best records this season. Although everyone knew Shai would be an All-Star this year, not many expected him to be a starter over Steph.
The Warriors superstar has been a fan favorite for the last decade, and it is not an easy feat to dethrone him. This is Shai’s second All-Star game selection and first as a starter.

The Western Conference All-Star frontcourt
While the Western Conference backcourt selections shocked many fans, the frontcourt did not come as a surprise. 4-time Champion LeBron James was announced as the captain of the Western Conference team. This is LeBron’s 20th All-Star team selection, the most in NBA history.
He will be accompanied in the front court by 2-time Champion Kevin Durant from the Phoenix Suns and 2-time MVP Nikola Jokic from the Denver Nuggets. That was the expected Western Conference frontcourt as LeBron, KD, and Jokic are three of the most popular superstars in the NBA, and they are having an incredible season.
