Joel Embiid blocking out the whole section—Is there anything this guy can't do?

What a game! With the Phillies hosting the Astros, thousands of fans were in attendance to witness the thriller. Sure enough, the home team did not disappoint as they pulled off a 3-2 win to improve their record. And the winning moment? It came when former MVP Bryce Harper took over with a walk-off single in the 10th inning. As the arena erupted to celebrate the hit, a towering figure among the fans caught the commentators’ attention. It was none other than Sixers star Joel Embiid!

Yes, fresh off a Gold medal triumph in Paris, Joel Embiid was spotted enjoying Monday night’s MLB action at the Citizens Bank Park. Hoping to fully immerse in the experience, he sat in the stands right behind the home plate to get the hitter’s perspective. As Harper made the winning shot, Joel got up from his seat for a better view while recording the whole play on his phone. With the camera panning toward him, the Phillies announcer was utterly stunned at the seven-footer’s huge frame!

“He just blocked out the whole section when he stood up.” His partner responded, “He did.”

Obviously, baseball announcers are not used to seeing athletes as tall as Embiid regularly. For perspective, the average height of an MLB player is only 6 feet 1 inch. Even Bryce Harper, who the Sixer was filming on his phone, is only two inches taller than the league’s average height. On the other hand, the NBA’s average height is over 6 feet 6 inches. And Joel is a giant, towering at 7 feet tall. Sure enough, even the iPhone looked tiny in The Process’ hands as he recorded the Phillies’ winning run.

Moreover, MLB has never had a player as big as Joel Embiid, as the tallest player in league history was Jon Rauch, who was an inch shorter than the Philly hooper. So, it is understandable why the announcers were stunned when the Gold medalist got up from his seat. As expected, even the fans could not resist chiming in.

Fans appreciate Joel Embiid’s love for sport in Philly, demanding more!

Well, while the announcers marveled at Embiid’s height, most fans were focused on an important task. “Phillies admin we gotta get Joels POV video,” a netizen demanded. As expected, Joel’s eagle-eye-esque POV soon hit the internet as the former MVP granted everyone’s wish by sharing the video on his Instagram story after the game. The video showed how big of an advantage his height has, as he was able to shoot a clear video despite several viewers standing and cheering right in front of him.

Meanwhile, one fan was just happy to see “MVP videoing another MVP.” Yes, while Joel won his league’s MVP title last year, Bryce Harper has also received that honor twice in his career. And it was absolutely amazing seeing greatness appreciate greatness.

Have an interesting take?

And one netizen even deemed Joel Embiid “my GOAT” while sharing a meme of him flexing during another one of his past appearances at a Phillies game. Yes, playing in Philadelphia his entire career, the big man always goes to extra mile to show support for other teams in the city. He has also been spotted attending Eagles games. He is such a big fan that after the Eagles won the Super Bowl six years ago, he took to the streets to celebrate with the locals, not bothering about his superstar status!

“That was amazing. I’m happy for the whole city of Philadelphia,” Embiid said in a street interview with Fox.

Watching Joel capture the iconic moment on his phone, one fan even pulled out the classic old meme of Phillies legend, Chase Utley, recording a memorable moment with the older version of iPhone back in the day.

One individual was so thrilled with the Phillies win that he requested, “Joel has to be at all Phillies games for the rest of the season.” Surely, many believe The Process might have been a lucky charm for the team, as they were able to sneak a win at the last moment. However, the fan might not get his wish because Joel will soon get busy with the preparation for the upcoming NBA season.

But the Philly fans definitely enjoyed seeing their beloved superstar support another home team and even behave like a true fanboy by capturing the memory on his phone.
