Kevin Durant was in for a shocker for the Phoenix Suns vs San Antonio Spurs game. The Spurs were on a slippery slope throughout. And what looked like a definite victory turned into a stunning moment for KD. The man of the hour (or should we say the minute) was Keldon Johnson. With Durant trying his best to keep the ball, Johnson took a chance, and the result was a 115-114 victory over the Suns.

The two of the Suns’ Big 3 were still not in attendance for the matchup. Before the game began, Vogel had mentioned that Beal and Booker were only getting started with simple practices. So it’s up to KD to make the most out of his situation. On a different note, a 3x All-Star thinks that there is another faceoff that all of us should be zeroing in on.

Known for his entertaining style of playing, Gilbert Arenas has extended that into his podcast as well. Gil’s Arenas is one of the most popular podcast shows out there now. And this time Gil and co. are all over the battle between KD and Wemby. Having mentioned KD as his idol on several occasions, Wembanyama finally got the chance to go head-to-head with the elite veteran.

But Gil is of the opinion that what all of us should be focusing on is a different matchup. Specifically, Chet Holmgren vs Victor Wembanyama. He says, “The older guys, they got their own battles”.

While that may be true, Wemby had a different take on the game. He said as much in the post-game talk with Ernie Johnson (Inside the NBA). It was surely a surreal experience for the Spurs rookie, who had to remind himself that though it was the man he’d been watching for 10 years, he had to stay focused.

Going back to Gil’s claims of Chet vs Victor matchup; he is not the only one who is waiting to watch the two sensational rookies square off. After all, their rivalry goes back to 2021.

Chet Holmgren of the Oklahoma City Thunder was the top prospect in the 2022 draft. Standing at 7’1, the young forward/center has skills that are on par with the 2023 generational talent, Victor Wembanyama. The current hype surrounding these two rookie sensations can be traced back to the 2021 World Championship Finals.

The USA has always been a dominant player in the World Championships. But what made this game different was it was a teaser to the rivalry that would take place soon. Chet had gotten the better of the 7’4 Wemby and since then, the NBA world has been itching to take every chance to watch the two play.

Another interesting fact is that OKC and San Antonio are traditional rivals. With the arrival of the top rookie talents in each of the teams, it has been reborn. So, when Gilbert Arenas said that Chet vs Wemby is the match to watch out for, he was not kidding.
