Making it to the NBA is not a cakewalk. However, when generations of a family play in the league, it is simply remarkable. The Curry family in this regard has played a crucial role in the NBA for years now. It was the father, Dell Curry, who began the family tradition and has now watched both his sons make it to the league. Stephen Curry had an incredible rise to the top, becoming the greatest shooter of all time. His brother Seth Curry, unfortunately, did not enjoy that kind 0f success.

Despite not being as successful as his elder brother, Seth Curry has definitely made a name for himself. The Duke Blue Devils alum has been in the league for 10 years despite going undrafted in 2013. Although Curry has always been on the move, playing for multiple teams over the years, he has been frequent part of the Dallas Mavericks roster. In this year’s offseason, Curry yet again signed with the Mavericks to join Luka Doncic and his Duke teammate, Kyrie Irving. However, his deal with the Mavericks has caught the attention of NBA analysts.

Stephen Curry’s brother gets a bizarre deal

Seth Curry has been an impressive player throughout his time in the NBA. Seemingly following the family traditions, Seth has been a terrific three point shooter too. He currently ranks 6th all time in career three point field goal percentage. Despite his reputation however, Curry has always been on the move.

Curry played for a total of eight teams in his 10 year career so far but has made frequent returns to one team. The Dallas Mavericks have signed Curry three times over the last 10 years. Curry has also shared the court with the 6’7 Slovenian, Luka Doncic, in his time with the Mavericks. But with Curry all set to join the franchise yet again, the Mavericks gave him an interesting deal.

Seth Curry signed an $8M deal to return to the Mavericks after his stint with the Philadelphia 76ers and Brooklyn Nets. This is the first season he will be playing for the Mavericks since 2020. Interestingly, his deal is non-guaranteed in the second year as per reports. The 32-year-old’s stint with the Mavericks could potentially come to an end after the very first year if the Mavericks choose not to pick up his contract the next year.

With a non-guaranteed deal in the second year, Curry will have a lot of pressure to impress the Mavericks’ front office in the very first year. With his place in the roster, will he get a good chance to prove his worth?

Curry’s role in the Mavericks roster is major

Curry’s sharpshooting ability is one of the key reasons why the Mavericks signed him. His teammate Luka Doncic entering his 6th year in the league will heavily rely on Curry’s court magic.

Doncic is already looking like an all time great. With a sensational season in 2023, Doncic would only look to elevate his game in the coming season. However, Doncic is not only a scoring threat but also a terrific facilitator.

But Doncic would need shooters to help him make the right plays. This is where Seth Curry comes in. His efficient three point shooting can elevate the Mavericks to a much better offensive output. And joining his Duke teammate, Kyrie Irving, Curry has a great opportunity to make his presence felt in the Mavericks roster.
