It seems like every time Anthony Edwards addresses the media these days, it’s to discuss his team’s struggles. Can you blame him? The Wolves have failed to meet expectations so far and currently rank tenth in the West standings. And they suffered another humiliating loss tonight, this time against the Pistons. But unlike most nights, Ant-Man seemingly preferred risking a $25K punishment after the loss instead of having to talk about his squad’s failure, AGAIN.
Turns out, Anthony Edwards declined to speak to the media tonight. Well, his frustration is understandable because even his career’s best scoring performance of 53 points could not help the Wolves get a win. He is likely to be fined $25K for not participating in postgame media availability.
Of course, this is not a good sign for the Minnesota team’s chemistry, which has already been in question for quite some time. And Edwards has been pretty vocal about it amid the ongoing struggles. Back in November, he said, “Our identity right now, as me and Mike (Conley) was talking about, I think is we soft as hell… as a team, internally… We can’t talk to each other. Just a bunch of little kids. Like the whole team. We just can’t talk to each other. We gotta figure it out man, because we can’t go down this road.”

Asked Chris Finch about the starting lineup: “You guys ask me this question all the time.” (Editors note: Twitter might disagree!)
“If I felt that the magic bullet was changing the starting lineup, I would’ve done that already.”

A major reason they reached the West finals last year was their chemistry and elite defense. But ever since the Wolves traded Karl-Anthony Towns to New York, there’s been a major attitude and mood shift for the entire team. Ant’s silence amid the 3-game losing streak only adds to those concerns. Moreover, this is not the first time he will be penalized by the league for his antics. In fact, he has already lost $235,000 in fines so far this season due to multiple instances on and off the court. Obviously, the biggest blow was the recent $100,000 penalty for using ‘profane language’ during a live postgame interview. And he lost $75,000 for calling the officials “f—— terrible” during another postgame interview. So, the $25,000 penalty for missing media availability should not seem so bad because recent trend suggests that he loses even more money when he is in front of the mic.
Meanwhile, Chris Finch seems unwilling to bring change despite the team’s constant decline.
Chris Finch is still looking for “Magic Bullet” amid denying ‘stubbornness’ accusations with his starting lineup

It is clear that the Wolves need change to turn things around. And many believe that their starting lineup is the problem. With not enough shooters on the floor, Edwards is not getting enough room to operate inside the paint and be dominant as a scorer. He even addressed the issue in a recent interview, “I can score the ball, but it’s just hard because I’m being double-teamed all over the floor, so I don’t have an answer… I don’t know what’s going on. They just trapping me, man. I don’t know what to do. I’m not going to lie.”
Maybe, promoting a shooter like Donte DiVincenzo to the starting lineup could solve that issue. However, Chris Finch doesn’t seem too stoked about the idea of a lineup change, “You guys ask me this question all the time. If I felt that the magic bullet was changing the starting lineup, I would’ve done that already.”
The head coach continued, “I don’t think I’m being particularly stubborn. There’s a chain reaction to everything you do. There are other combinations and things that go on on the floor that are just as important, if not more so than the starting lineup.”

If not this, then Chris Finch needs to figure out another way to get the Wolves’ offense going because the current method is clearly not working. And Anthony Edwards risking fines to avoid the media after losses will only make the situation worse. Do you agree?
