The NBA All-Star Weekend concluded with a historic 211-186 point victory by the East team with Damian Lillard clenching the All-Star MVP. Despite the game itself taking a lot of the fanfare and attention, one event stood as the highlight. That is, of course, the Battle of Sexes to settle the greatest shooter debate once and for all. Stephen Curry and Sabrina Ionescu’s match-up drew interest from around and across the league, proving to be a solid hype leading up to the weekend in Indianapolis.

The showdown matched the hype as the two sharpshooters held their own on the court. However, Steph tipped the battle in his favor, eclipsing Sabrina by just three points 26-29. Despite losing, the WNBA Star’s performance garnered admiration all around the league, mainly because she shot from the NBA three-point line rather than the WNBA line. So, podcast host and rapper Cam’ron Giles is firmly on the hype train and can’t stop singing her praises.

In the latest episode of ‘It is What It Is‘, Cam, while discussing a round-up to the All-Star Weekend, said, “Come on, man, it was 206 points. What are we doing? What are we doing? Like, come on, that sh*t was trash. The best part of All-Star Weekend for Cameron Giles was watching Steph Curry against the girl for the three-point. Yeah, that was the thing.”

He further praised Ionescu, “The reason I liked her is because, uh, first of all, she shot sensational. See, her points were equal to the winners of the men’s Three-Point Contest; she had 26 points. Damian Lillard had 26 points. Uh, in a regular Three-Point Contest, and, uh, she, she shot sensational.

Giles also pointed out the competitive spirit in Sabrina, “You could see in her face the upsetness as much as she tried to keep it together.” That’s precisely why their matchup was the main attraction of the All-Star game compared to the other events. One notable disappointment was Jaylen Brown’s failed recreation at the Slam Dunk Contest.

Jaylen Brown sparked excitement by opting to join the 2024 NBA All-Star Slam Dunk contest, becoming the first All-Star to do so since 2017. With the opportunity to potentially become the first All-Star to win the contest since John Wall in 2014, the Boston Celtics guard aimed for creativity. In the first round, Brown led all entries with an impressive score of 48.8. Seeking to elevate his performance, he enlisted teammate Jayson Tatum and popular streamer Kai Cenat. Brown orchestrated a unique dunk, positioning the 5-foot-3 YouTube sensation in a chair while Tatum stood ready to assist.

Executing the alley-oop from Tatum, Brown soared to flush the ball through the rim. In a playful nod to Dee Brown, the former Celtic who famously won the contest in 1991 with a no-look dunk, Brown humorously covered his eyes upon completing the dunk, albeit failing to replicate the iconic move. Advancing to the championship round, Brown’s attempt drew ridicule on social media despite his earlier success. So, what is your favorite All-Star moment?
