The Phoenix Suns are just a game behind the Kings for the final play-in spot, but they can kiss that goodbye, well, just almost. Kevin Durant and Co. are currently hosting the Rockets, and a blowout loss is on the horizon. But for Kevin Durant, the night just keeps getting worse. On the night when an all-out brawl in Minnesota is making the headlines, the urge to fight is seemingly seeping into the other arenas as well. Kevin Durant was made aware of that when Dillon Brooks got into his face. But that wasn’t the end, as there was a lot in store for the Suns star.
The Rockets bruiser was sent packing for two simultaneous techs, one each for altercations with KD and Nick Richards. Now it was Durant’s turn to head to the locker room. The 36-year-old rolled his ankle over the foot of Jabari Smith Jr. while driving to the rim.
And to make matters worse, in Arizona, the Suns announced his inability to return for the night. Not only that, even the security team also got involved, as confirmed by an eyewitness. “Durant having an interaction with a fan that reached a point where security said something to the fan sitting basically courtside,” Duane Rankin of the Arizona Republic confirmed during the 3rd quarter of the game. At this time, it remains unknown what was said or how the situation escalated.

As if things weren’t already chaotic, Kevin Durant had to deal with Dillon Brooks’ antics on top of everything else.
It all went down in the second quarter—Durant attacked the rim, only to get tangled up with Brooks near the free-throw line. The whistle blew, but neither of them was letting go of the ball. Enter Nick Richards, who tried to step in… only to get shoved by the Rockets’ resident troublemaker. And because Brooks just had to take it a step further, he threw some choice words at the refs, which earned him an early exit.
Durant didn’t get off scot-free either. He picked up a tech for his troubles, which means he’s out $2,000. But honestly, that’s nothing compared to what the Suns are about to lose with the Slim Reaper now dealing with an injury.

Kevin Durant’s night capped off with injury amid troubling future in Phoenix
The humiliating loss and the prospect of being left behind further in the post-season contention were a secondary concern when the clock hit 6:57 in the third quarter. KD dropped to the floor after twisting his ankle in a manner it wasn’t supposed to. Durant exited the game after hobbling to the locker room. Following the game, Mike Budenholzer provided an update on KD. “We’ll get an MRI on it tomorrow. He’ll stay back [on the road trip] and we’ll assess,” the HC told the press.

Kevin Durant is no stranger to injuries, especially on his left leg. He had two separate cases of left MCL sprain in 2016 and during the 2021-22 season.

His infamous Achilles injury kept him out for the entirety of the 2019-20 season. After the injury update provided by Budenholzer, KD’s recovery timeline looks uncertain, to say the least.
The Phoenix team will be on a three-game road trip following the 148-109 loss to the Rockets. With only seven games remaining, KD’s absence can make things miserable for the Suns. If the injury is concerning enough, then we could’ve well and truly seen the last of Kevin Durant in a Suns thread with uncertainty looming over his future.
