The Phoenix Suns came into the 2024-25 season with championship aspirations, expecting their trio of Kevin Durant, Devin Booker and Bradley Beal to dominate. But let’s be real—it hasn’t worked out that way. Instead, the team has been dealing with inconsistency, depth concerns, and a string of setbacks that have derailed their title hopes.
Now, the buzz around Durant’s future in Phoenix is getting louder. If you’ve been following the drama, you already know the trade rumors aren’t slowing down. NBA insider Shams Charania recently added fuel to the fire, reporting that the Suns could be heading for major roster changes—with Durant right in the middle of it all.
According to Charania, if Phoenix decides to move on, they won’t just ship KD out without a plan. Instead, the team and Durant are expected to work together to find the right trade destination. But the residents of Phoenix haven’t taken so kindly to the news. The Suns are taking on the Timberwolves at the footprint Center and something of concern happened. How convenient, Timberwolves is reportedly one of the teams the 15x All-Star can end up at.

Security escorted two courtside fans out after they exchanged words with Durant during a timeout. But Brendon Kleen reported that security reseated them later. Apparently it was just a miscommunication because the Slim reaper later fist bumped them. But the rest of the fans? Frustrated. Fans booed and started heading for the exits as the team unraveled.
Deleted because KD fist bumped both guys and was chatting with them after the buzzer. Must have just been a miscommunication or something.

The meltdown began with Jaden McDaniels converting a three-point play. Ryan Dunn followed with a rough missed three, leading to a Julius Randle offensive rebound and dunk. Moments later, Dunn turned the ball over, and McDaniels capitalized with another bucket.
The Timberwolves bench exploded in celebration, forcing Mike Budenholzer to call a timeout reported Duane Rankin of The Arizona Republic. The performance on display today by the Suns was nowhere near a team with championship aspirations.

Kevin Durant and the Suns get steamrolled by Anthony Edwards
When Anthony Edwards wasn’t dominating, Donte DiVincenzo was lighting it up from deep. The Timberwolves torched the Suns 116-98 on Sunday night at the Footprint Center, fueled by a monster third quarter where Edwards erupted for 17 points and DiVincenzo drilled three clutch threes.

Edwards was unstoppable, finishing with 44 points, seven assists, and five rebounds. DiVincenzo, in his best game since returning from a turf toe injury, put up 24 points, six steals, two assists, and two rebounds. He became the first player to hit seven or more threes and snag five-plus steals off the bench.
Minnesota started ice cold, while Booker’s hot hand helped Phoenix control the first half. The Suns led from the opening minutes until midway through the third when Edwards flipped the script. The Wolves outscored Phoenix 34-21 in the quarter and never let them get within single digits after that.

Julius Randle, playing for the first time in a month, looked sharp with 20 points, six rebounds and three assists. He threw down a powerful dunk in the fourth after a slick feed from Nickeil Alexander-Walker. Jaden McDaniels immediately stole the in-bounds pass and converted a layup, stretching the lead to 17.

Despite Kevin Durant’s 26 points and Bradley Beal’s 18, the Suns had no answers. Minnesota, now healthier with Randle and DiVincenzo back, looks ready for a late-season push. With a favorable schedule ahead, a higher seed in the West isn’t out of reach.
