“I thought he was outstanding.” Chris Finch didn’t hold back his praise for Anthony Edwards. Well, that’s what they said about Luka Doncic too. Minnesota’s hot streak kept rolling, closing January 10-6 after steady progress each month. Edwards? He’s the engine. Dropping 36 points, 11 assists, and six boards in a blowout over Utah, he capped off a month where he averaged 30.3 points and led the team in net rating. Oh, and they took down Denver, Phoenix, and Dallas too.
Edwards finally missed a game after 124 straight appearances, sitting out against the Wizards because of illness. Back on the court against the Kings, he wasn’t himself. He put up 21 points, but his shot just wasn’t falling, making only 7 of 21 attempts, including a tough 3-of-10 from three.
Since he missed the Wizards game on Sunday, the press asked him for the first time about his thoughts on the Luka Doncic-Anthony Davis trade. “They say that none of them, nobody knew about the trade. Yeah, so that’s crazy,” Edwards said.

“At 25, they traded probably the best scorer in the NBA. He didn’t know about it.” Edwards wasn’t just shocked—he was looking for answers. Maybe someone does need to investigate it. Because for a lot of people, the trade doesn’t make sense.
When asked if players usually get informed before trades, Edwards didn’t hold back. “Everybody gets informed? Yeah, I’m scared. I’m scared, Tim [Connelly]. Hey, if you gonna trade me, let me know, dawg,” he said, making it clear he wouldn’t want to be blindsided like Doncic. He requests the Timberwolves GM Tim Connelly to let him know beforehand. That’s all he wants from the front office.

Plus, his not-so-great return to the hardwood might’ve played a part in spooking him as they lost to the Kings.

DeMar DeRozan and Malik Monk took care of business when it mattered most, leading the Kings to a nail-biting 116-114 win over the Timberwolves in Minneapolis. DeRozan poured in 33 points on 14-of-25 shooting, while Monk added 26 points and eight boards. Keegan Murray dropped 19, and Domantas Sabonis chipped in with 14 points and 11 rebounds.
Minnesota fought hard, with Naz Reid exploding for 30 points on an efficient 12-of-19 shooting. Jaden McDaniels stepped up with 22, and Rudy Gobert dominated the paint with 19 points and 13 boards. But Anthony Edwards, back after missing a game due to illness, couldn’t find his groove. He finished with 21 points but struggled from the field, shooting just 7-for-21 and 3-of-10 from deep.
The game went down to the wire. Monk knocked down two clutch free throws to give Sacramento a four-point cushion with 17.2 seconds left. Mike Conley answered with a deep three to cut it to one, but Monk wasn’t fazed. He calmly sank two more from the line before Sabonis sealed it with another pair. Edwards drilled a triple at the buzzer, but it was too late.

Sacramento, leading 67-59 at the half, had built its cushion with a 9-0 run late in the second quarter. The Kings were also adjusting to life after the Spurs traded for De’Aaron Fox in a three-team deal. Zach LaVine, acquired in the trade, didn’t suit up.
