Recently, a familiar NBA face made his attendance at Inter Miami’s latest match.

After the convincing win over their rivals, Lionel Messi shared a handshake with the 6’9″ forward. However, NBA Twitter felt a cloud of unknowingness between them. They thought that the Argentina international didn’t know the NBA star.

Joined by his own buddies, Messi and Co are yet to face a single loss since his touchdown in Miami. Additionally, the mesmeric winger took no time to assert his dominance in the MLS. In just five games, he has recorded eight goals. Putting the ball in the back of the net was habitual, almost second nature for soccer wizard.

His streak began with a heavenly game-winning free kick on his debut. The trend of celebrities and thousands going bananas at his mastery has stayed true since. The latest to the Lionel Messi experience was Kyle Kuzma. He saw the Argentinian forward drill an 86th-minute goal to extend finish Inter Miami’s 4-0 bashing of Charlotte.

After the game, as Messi was walking back, Kuzma approached him. He met with the 36-year-old soccer phenom. A firm handshake marked their interaction. As Messi walked back, nothing seemed to be out of the ordinary. However, NBA fans noticed, or at least their intuition said the soccer star had no clue who he just met.

After watching the video of Kuz and Messi’s short exchange, fans were convinced that the Inter Miami star was estranged from the Washington Wizards forward. They took to Twitter to slander Kuzma, even saying Messi assumed he is famous due to his tall size.

Let alone the soccer fanatics, even NBA Twitter had a hard time recognizing Kuz. They had him confused with the 2023 number-one overall pick of Victor Wembanyama.
