Three minutes, a history, and a Dub to kickstart his NBA career—that was Bronny James’ day in a nutshell. In the presence of the legendary MLB father-son duo, Bronny made history with his dad LeBron, and mommy James couldn’t be any prouder. Savannah James who has been a constant throughout Bronny’s life was taking in the moment with her kids, Bryce and birthday girl Zhuri. The woman who lived through the horrors of Bronny’s tragic cardiac arrest and consequent surgery finally saw the proud day, leaving a heartwarming message.

Savannah celebrated the occasion with heartfelt social media posts. “Where history begins HIStory,” she captioned an Instagram story featuring photos of the father-son duo from their game against the Timberwolves.

Bronny’s on-court presence melted Savannah’s heart, who recently had an emotional breakdown while talking about his cardiac arrest. With tears in her eyes, Savannah said on Netflix’s docuseries, Starting 5, “I think at the end of the day, it was just about us supporting each other and just being super grateful for the outcome.”

The point guard’s congenital heart defect had a terrifying effect on the James family last year. Fortunately, the surgery worked in their favor, and through proper rehabilitation, Bronny returned to the hardwood. While his numbers weren’t particularly impressive, he earned his spot with the Lakers. And there he was in the Purple and Gold, creating history with his father. So Savannah’s emotions are anything but natural.

The 19-year-old, with his zero-point contribution, didn’t have much of an impact in the 110-103 victory other than grabbing a rebound. But he was part of the team that lifted the franchise’s 8-year-old curse. The Lakers have had a bit of tough luck in winning the opening games of the regular season. The last time they enjoyed the moment was against the Rockets in 2016. So, apart from the father-son historic feat, the Lakers had additional reasons to celebrate. Following the victory, the James family was captured having a sweet moment as well to commemorate the occasion.
