Is Savannah James the unsung hero behind LeBron's success, given her support for his friends?

While being an NBA superstar’s wife does have its perks, it also comes with a lot of unwanted media attention. And no one understands it better than LeBron James’ better half Savannah James, who has been with the four-time champ since the beginning of his career. Staying away from any controversy in the past, Savannah recently made headlines as a viral interaction with Bulls superstar Zach LaVine sparked rumors of her not being too fond of LeBron’s friends.

However, she put that misconception to bed today as she publicly linked up with her husband’s podcast partner JJ Redick in a wholesome moment. With the Lakers playing a Summer League game against the Rockets, Savannah made it all the way to Las Vegas to watch her son Bronny in action. As she sat comfortably in her seat, Lakers head coach JJ Redick walked in front of her and immediately stopped to greet her. Reciprocating the gesture, Savannah got up from her seat and hugged JJ while also indulging in a small conversation.

Although the interaction was nothing out of the ordinary, it did bust the myth about Savannah not liking LeBron’s friends. Well, the rumors began two months ago at the Klutch Sports Group’s ‘Pro Day’ for this year’s draft class. Sitting between LeBron and AD during the event, Savannah’s reaction caught everyone’s attention when Zach LaVine came by to dab up the Lakers duo. While Zach greeted LeBron and AD wholeheartedly, he walked right past Savannah, who also kept looking down until Zach passed her. Naturally, fans began wondering what the reaction was all about and why the two ignored each other. However, today’s friendly interaction between JJ and Savannah might help clear things up.

Zach LaVine’s move to LA could end all rumors

While Savannah’s link-up with JJ has cleared the air, some fans are still speculating that she had an issue with Zach LaVine, which led to the awkward interaction between them. However, there is one way to end those rumors, and it could happen if the Lakers can finalize a trade with the Bulls and add LaVine to their roster. Not having made any significant moves in free agency so far, Rob Pelinka is desperately looking for a star player to pair alongside LeBron and AD.

Initially, it was believed that they would make a move for DeMar DeRozan, but he joined Sacramento instead. And most other high-profile free agents have already chosen their destination. So, the Lakers’ best option to upgrade might be to add LaVine as even the Bulls want to send the two-time All-Star out of Chicago.

However, with three years left on his $215 million deal, the Lakers will have to give up a lot of assets to make room for his massive contract. To facilitate that, experts have even curated a three-team mock trade scenario between the Lakers, Bulls, and Jazz which brings LaVine, Walker Kessler, and Collin Sexton to the Lakers. But in return, Pelinka will probably have to let go of D’Lo, Reaves, Hachimura, and several other players, including multiple draft picks. So, they’ll basically be reshaping their entire roster. However, that move would likely mean that Savannah does not have an issue with LaVine as he would become teammates with her husband LeBron.
