“We’re two wins away from getting to the next step of our journey,” said the Sacramento Kings‘ interim head coach, Doug Christie. The Kings will have everything to play for tonight as they gear up to face the Dallas Mavericks. A chance at entering the Playoffs hangs in the balance. Stars like Zach LaVine and DeMar DeRozan will need to lock in for the Kings tonight.
But could injuries to their squad spoil their plans of a deep Playoff run? Well, that’s what we’ll try to figure out by looking at the injury report submitted by the Kings ahead of tonight’s game.

Sacramento Kings Injury Report – Will Zach LaVine and DeMar DeRozan play against the Dallas Mavericks?
The injury report turned in by the Sacramento Kings only has two players on it. That’s quite a good sign for them. What’s better is that neither Zach LaVine nor DeMar DeRozan is on the injury report for the Mavs game. They are both AVAILABLE to play in the Kings’ first Play-In game of the season.
However, that doesn’t mean all of the players in the Kings’ rotation are healthy. Guard Malik Monk is listed as OUT against the Mavs. He walked off during the Kings’ regular-season game against the Detroit Pistons with a calf injury. Since then, we learned that Monk would suffer an injury that would cut his season early for the second time in a row. And he will not be returning anytime soon, even if Sacramento goes deep in the Playoffs.

Finally, Jake LaRavia is the last player on the injury report. He’s listed as OUT with a thumb injury. In late March, we found out that LaRavia was slated to be re-evaluated in 7-10 days. And that re-evaluation happened earlier this month. We found out that LaRavia could now participate in light on-court workouts. However, he is yet to make his comeback to the Kings squad. Even so, it’s likely that LaRavia will return soon.
On the other hand, their opponents, the Mavs, are missing crucial players like Kyrie Irving heading into this game. So that puts the Kings in a better position to win this game. But who will be filling in for Monk and LaRavia in this Play-In game? Let’s try and see.

Sacramento Kings vs Dallas Mavericks – predicted starting lineup and depth chart
Being DeMar DeRozan’s understudy, it’s going to be difficult replacing Jake LaRavia in the Kings’ rotation. However, ever since Jake’s injury, Doug McDermott has done a splendid job of replacing him. Devin Carter has seen an uptick in his playing time since Monk’s injury as well. And expect that to continue tonight in the Kings vs the Mavs game. Here’s the lineup we think Doug Christie might use tonight:
POSITION | STARTER | 2nd UNIT | 2nd UNIT |
PG | Keon Ellis | Devin Carter | Markelle Fultz |
SG | Zach LaVine | Keon Ellis | Devin Carter |
SF | DeMar DeRozan | Doug McDermott | Zach LaVine |
PF | Keegan Murray | Trye Lyles | Isaac Jones |
C | Domantas Sabonis | Jonas Valanciunas | Trey Lyles |

Despite a season that didn’t entirely go their way, in this game, the odds are actually in the Kings’ favour. Their opponents are first dealing with more injuries. Second, the Kings did a perfect 3-0 sweep against the Mavs in the regular season. So that will also give them more confidence.
So, the Kings can go out and actually win this one. Their coach, Doug Christie, seems to know what’s on the line. So we’re sure his players will also be similarly motivated to do what’s necessary to make it in the Playoffs. But let us know what you think! Can the Kings get the job done against the Mavs?
