The NBA All-Star weekend isn’t just about the main event. There’s plenty to enjoy— like the Rising Stars game. But last year, one showdown stole the spotlight—the epic 3-point contest between Stephen Curry and Sabrina Ionescu. The Baby-Faced Assassin edged out a narrow win, keeping fans glued to their screens. Naturally, everyone hoped for another jaw-dropping moment this year. But guess what? It’s not happening.

Sabrina Ionescu was ready to run it back. Even Adam Silver wanted the magic to unfold. Steph had a plan—team up with a WNBA champ against Klay Thompson and Caitlin Clark. But Clark’s “no” shut it down. So, for now, the rematch is just a what-if. Meanwhile, Ionescu made her Bay Area visit count, handing out laptops and sharing smiles. Thus clearing her stance on the matter, the New York Liberty star had a few things to say.

“No, I’m not disappointed, said Sabrina Ionescu of the uncertain 3-point contest. “I think it’s obviously an event that we had last year and it went so well. It takes a lot to kind of go into that and make sure it’s all planned out in a way we want to make sure is moving the needle. So there’s going to be many more opportunities for us to be able to go out there and compete.”

Surely, there seems to be no disappointment from Ionescu’s side as well. Also, Adam Silver cleared his stance on the matter, not too long ago. He informed the Warriors insider, Tim Kawakami: “I can only say in terms of Caitlin, I was not disappointed the slightest [that she declined and said she wanted to save her debut for the WNBA All-Star 3-Point Contest].”

However, the fans aren’t particularly happy with Caitlin Clark‘s decision. Just like the 2024 All-Star Games, this time too Sabrina Ionescu and Stephen Curry could’ve been in action. But now it’s unpredictable and Silver has yet to set the plans for the weekend in San Francisco.

Caitlin Clark’s decision breaks hearts amidst Sabrina Ionescu’s honest confession

So, what did the 2024 WNBA Rookie of The Year say that broke hundreds and thousands of hearts? Caitlin Clark got the invite for a special 3-point showdown with “the likes of Steph Curry,” but she’s passing. Why? Simple. “She wants her first 3-point contest to be at WNBA All-Star in Indianapolis this summer,” her reps at Excel Sports confirmed.

Therefore, the NBA fans are upset, blaming Clark for the failure of the event. Well, in all honesty, this might be a bit of an exaggeration. Surely, the league’s viewership and rating are hitting rock bottom from time to time, but will a 3-point contest’s cancelation lead to failure? Doubtful.
