A family member in the NBA community has once again headlined the news with his partner due to broadcasting commentary. The broadcasting issues get chaotic when someone from the NBA member’s family has to enter it. During the Jayson Tatum’s Team USA controversy, it was his father. However, this time, new Nuggets guard Russell Westbrook entered the controversy to support his wife, Nina Earl, in her protest against ESPN employee Ryan Clark for his busting remarks for her husband.

Apparently, after the Ravens-City Chiefs game, Ryan Clark posted a video comparing Lamar Jackson’s game to that of Russell Westbrook on the GetUp program. During the end seconds of the game, Lamar had two misfires that Clark went after. Comparing those misses to Westbrook’s play under pressure, Clark commented, “Lamar Jackson right now is like Russell Westbrook. …Remember when he and Damian Lillard went head to head, and it got emotional? He couldn’t make a shot!”

However, it didn’t fit well with Westbrook‘s wife, Nina, as she penned down a large note for Clark targeting her husband. As expected, Russell did not step back from supporting her wife’s opinion as he shared it on his IG story.

Earl presented about four points in her opinion on Clark’s derogatory remark. Two of the most vicious comebacks that Nina gave included the first one stating, “The only comparison to be made between Russell and Lamar are that they’re both unicorns and amazing at what they do.”

The second comeback Nina Earl had for Clark read, “Before you start hating on Russell, at least let the basketball season start and let him miss a layup or something first.” And Nina’s demand was legit, considering the season has not even kicked off yet.

However, this is not the first time Nina has been a great supporter of her husband. She has done it before as well.

After joining Los Angeles Lakers in 2021, Russell Westbrook was not having a season that he expected. Coming off averaging 22.5 points per game, he could only score 18.5 points per game during his first year with the Lakers. Obviously it attracted a lot of hate and criticism from the fans as a result. As expected, these death threats and harassment also reached Westbrook’s wife, Nina Earl.

At first, it was difficult for her to cope with it as she said in March 2022, “I’m having obscenity’s [sic] and death wishes for me and my family sent my way because you’re expressing your ‘truth’, it’s hard for me to get on board with that.” But she got in touch with her inner self and learned to tune out the negativity as she revealed it to People in 2023.

Instead of herself, Russell Westbrook’s wife is more concerned about her kids being part of it all. “I’m not very affected by things that happen outside of my circle, but my kids are young, and they don’t have that same experience,” she spoke on all the hate about his husband Russell Westbrook’s play’s impact on her family.
