“When you get past the fun part, then go do the part where you get into cities at three a.m. and you have fifteen people waiting for autographs when you’re as tired as hell.” As Michael Jordan once highlighted, handling fame in itself is a difficult thing. Once you become a renowned public figure, having even the slightest of anonymity is hard. Almost three decades later, Stephen Curry deals with the same issues. Michael Jordan could usually find only his hotel room as a safe space from prying eyes. Fortunately, 15 years in the NBA has allowed Curry to find some other personal spots.
Recently, renowned Warriors Broadcaster Bob Fitzgerald had a one-on-one conversation with the NBA All-Time Three-Point Leader. As the discussion progressed, Fitzgerald asked Curry about moments where he may have felt relieved at not being recognized in public. This caused the Warriors star to reveal, “I do know my spots, I can go, where I can be real incognito, and just have a ‘normal experience’, I guess”. He revealed that it is “kind of refreshing” when people don’t know him or don’t care about basketball. Whether they are genuine in their feelings at that point in time or simply acting, Curry doesn’t mind. Such moments of anonymity are rare in his life. After all, Curry doesn’t even receive them when he is looking to spend some time with Ayesha on a foreign trip!
“It depends, which is kind of like weird ‘Tooting your own horn’ type vibe,” said Curry, when describing the struggle of not drawing attention to himself while traveling abroad. “It’s becoming harder and harder to find those spots. But, like I said, we know how to move in a certain way where we can try to control as much as we can. Anything you want to be able to have a good time with your, you know, with my wife, my family, or my people that, you know, you want to spend time with, and not have too many distractions around, and try to take all those things in consideration when we’re on the move.”

People want to catch a glimpse of one of the most renowned basketball players of the modern generation. To do so, they will arrive in throngs and stand outside Curry’s hotel for hours. In a recent interview with Bloomberg Originals, the NBA star went into detail about his trip to China. Curry visited the Asian country back in September to promote Under Armour’s Curry Brand. He revealed that security concerns caused the player to miss out on visiting one city during his tour. If that wasn’t enough, crowd control problems also caused Curry to be on ‘hotel arrest’ for two days. While admitting that the same drove him crazy, the Golden State Warriors star also added, “It was also flattering, and I appreciate that love.”
Being an NBA power couple, Ayesha and Stephen Curry cannot avoid crowds even outside the States. Despite this, they continue creating some memorable memories from time to time. The couple have often enjoyed their romantic escapes. From sightseeing in South Korea to heading to the seaside after the 2024 Paris Olympics. In fact, the resources that the player holds under him often allow him to even plan some surprises for his belle.
