Jaylen Brown does not beat about the bush as he calls for an investigation on the controversial call tonight. What looked like a certain victory for the Celtics turned around at the last second. When Buddy Hield hit Brown on the head, a call was made. But the Pacers immediately challenged the call, leading to an overturn of the play.

Talking to reporters post-game, Brown said, “I think he obviously hit me in the head. We definitely can do some investigation. That’s what I’m gonna say. I’ve never heard head part of the ball.”

After the officials reviewed the hit to the back of the head and said the verdict, Brown walked to the ref to make sure he heard him right. James Williams, the official who delivered the ruling, confirmed that JB did not get hit in the head. While the commentators themselves couldn’t hold back their shocks of exclamation, the Celtics held their cool.

While talking about the whole incident with the reporters, Brown said that he was absolutely sure of the fact that he got hit in the head. How or why the ref made such a decision remains a mystery. But not for long, as the team cannot wait for the Last 2 Minute report to be announced.

Aside from the Jaylen Brown issue, the loss is a tough pill to swallow

Soon after the controversial call, Indiana’s Benedict Mathurin caught a foul, which led to free throws and the subsequent 133-131 win. Kristaps Porziņģis had got in the way of Mathurin’s three-pointer, leading to three free throws. He landed two of the three.

Jaylen Brown finished the night on a high note despite the disappointing finish. The 2x All-Star had a season-high 40 points tonight. Not having Jayson Tatum for five straight games hadn’t hampered their winning ways. The Celtics still remain the top seed in the Eastern Conference with a 28-8 record.

And with Tyrese Haliburton not available for the second half, after straining his left hamstring, the Pacers held on for the win. So while it wasn’t ideal, “it is what it is” (remember Jokic?). Boston will be facing the Western Conference top seed, Minnesota Timberwolves next.

Hopefully, Tatum will also be back by then, and they can get back on their winning streak.
