In an illuminating interview with Parents Magazine from 2016, Stephen and Ayesha, revealed fascinating details about the early stages of their relationship. Interestingly, the pair attended the same church group during their high school years. While many high school sweethearts who start dating during their teenage years, the Curry situation was a bit different.

They couldn’t pursue a romantic relationship due to a unique set of rules—they weren’t allowed to date in high school.

Steph playfully noted, “I always had my eye on her, but I got a little shaken, for sure,” referring to their shared focus on their faith in high school. They may not have been allowed to date, but their spiritual connection was evident even then.

Their paths crossed in college, where Steph pursued basketball at Davidson College in North Carolina. Ayesha ventured into the world of acting in Los Angeles. However, fate had other plans. During the ESPYS sports award show in LA, Steph, then an emerging NBA star, reached out to Ayesha on Facebook. The chemistry was undeniable, and they began connecting despite the distance.

But, as Steph laughingly admitted, their first attempt at a kiss didn’t go as planned. Ayesha recalled the amusing incident, where Steph’s impulsive move to kiss her mid-conversation caught her off guard. She amusingly described it as Steph “flying at my face like a thief in the night.” Initially surprised, she had to clarify the situation in her mind. “Yep. I struck out,” the Golden State Warriors guard admitted.

A bumpy road toward a happy ending for the couple

Despite this awkward start, their love story blossomed. Fast forward 12 years, and the couple is happily married with three beautiful children: Riley, Ryan, and Canon. They’ve created a loving and enduring family, full of laughter and shared moments.

Ayesha shared a delightful anecdote from their early days. It highlighted their connection over Canadian candy, Maynard’s fuzzy peaches. As a Canadian, Ayesha introduced Steph to this sweet treat, and it quickly became a favorite. One evening, while chatting on the phone with Steph’s brother and an old friend about Toronto, Ayesha mentioned fuzzy peaches. Steph enthusiastically interjected, expressing his love for them. In light of this admission, Curry further admitted that now, they fill their house pantry with those candies.

Well, the start may have been bumpy, but the journey has been really beautiful for the sweet couple.
