Thunder general manager Sam Presti told Giddey after the season that the team envisioned using him as a reserve in 2024-25 “to maximize his many talents and deploy our team more efficiently over 48 minutes.” Presti envisioned Giddey making a significant impact off the bench, but Giddey had different ideas and chose to take his talents elsewhere. Despite a dip in his numbers during his third season, Giddey remains a valuable asset, which was evident during his impressive performance at the Olympics.
