The Sixers acquired Green on September 13th, but in order to clear cap space, Philly waived Green on November 1st. During a conversation on his podcast, Inside Green Room, Green expressed his thoughts after getting waived. He said, “This happens as I’m almost done unpacking all my stuff. We just moved in about a week ago, just got the family here a week ago…and now it’s like ‘you gotta figure it out”. Danny Green’s veteran presence could prove to be pivotal if a franchise decides to take a punt on him.

The NBA is a ruthless business and staying at the top requires hard decisions to be made. Danny Green’s being axed from the Sixers isn’t one-off, but a norm in the NBA. The competition to get into the NBA is so high that it makes fringe players like Danny Green easily expendable. The NBA competition is so fierce that a measly 4,374 players have had the opportunity to play in the league. Fringe players need to grab an opportunity by the throat, otherwise their NBA dream might get over even before it started.
