The murmurs were always there. Now it has been confirmed. After the rocky end to the multi-year relationship with Adidas, Trae Young has now moved on. And the Hawks guard found his landing spot alongside some of the best the NBA has to offer. Trae Young 4 will remain as the last instance of Adidas’ collab with Trae. Now he’s about to fulfil his childhood dream. That too after rejecting the approach of Kyrie Irving’s enticing business plan.
Trae is now officially a part of Jordan Brand. Yes, the 26-year-old had all the more reasons to do to make this move, as it was his prolonged dream. Reflecting on the glittery moment, he shared, “As a kid, you always dream of lacing up in your first pair of Jordans.” Most NBA stars who witnessed Michael Jordan’s legendary partnership with Nike can relate to Trae’s sentiment. Moreover, he added, “You put on that first pair, you feel invincible and like you can take on the world.”
Justifying his decision further, the excited Trae stated, “This brand embodies basketball, style, a desire to win and the desire to be great.” He also clarified that he wishes to set the bar for those who come after him, just as His Airness did. Trae revealed that he aims to continue that legacy for future generations, including his younger brother.

When Trae and Adidas were not on the same page, he decided to explore other brand options. The 3-time All-Star was even spotted in Kyrie’s ANTA Shock Wave Pro 5 during the training camp making it seem like a potential choice for his future. However, instead of settling with the Mavs star’s brand which is described as the “most aggressive” offer alongside the Jordan Brand as per Boardroom, he went ahead to fulfil his forever dream.
Before the multi-year contract was announced, Trae had been dropping hints by wearing the brand’s apparel and shoes on a few occasions. So, it doesn’t come as a surprise to some. But what exactly led him to discontinue his terms with Adidas?

Trae signed with the sneaker giants in 2018 on a four-year deal and achieved early success with his first shoe line, Adidas Trae Young 1. The initial release featured multiple colors, which quickly became a hit in the market in 2021. And with the same expectation, the next model was released. However, it didn’t have the desired impact.
The next two shoe lines didn’t receive the same level of response and interest, which could explain their discontinuation. An affordable range “Trae Unlimited” was also launched and the brand could also continue to sell the shoes but the main man has chosen a different path.
This move aligns Trae with some of the biggest names in the league, such as Luka Doncic, Zion Williamson, Chris Paul, Jayson Tatum and others who have been representing the iconic Jordan Brand for some time. The partnership could also elevate Trae’s legacy on and off the court just as it has done for many before him. Do you agree with Trae’s decision to choose Jordan Brand over ANTA?
