The NBA world has seen the Patrick Beverley-DeMar DeRozan antics multiple times in the past. The former teammates have gone after each other, taunting and jokingly shoving at each other on the court. However, tonight, it wasn’t the same old, friendly chatter between the two. The duo engaged in an ugly verbal spat during the Milwaukee Bucks visit to Chicago. Nevertheless, the heated moment went through the back door quickly after DeMar DeRozan cleared the air following the game.
Following the game, the reporters swarmed a tired DeMar DeRozan and asked about his clash with Beverley. The Chicago Bulls star in return admitted that it was the team’s error to give way to frustration on the court. He said, “We know him. That’s Pat… We let our frustration take over everything else. It kind of seemed like we was directing it towards one person specifically on their team and we just thought we weren’t getting good calls.”

The Bucks had the best of the Chicago Bulls, dominating them for a 97-113 win. However, Patrick Beverley didn’t stay on the court for long. Beverley has had a difficult time finding a stable team to rely on since the last four NBA seasons. The veteran point guard has played for six teams during this period, including his previous team, the Chicago Bulls. However, his contract wasn’t extended, and he ended up leaving the side of DeMar DeRozan to join the Philadelphia 76ers.
Ahead of this season’s trade deadline, however, the Bucks roped him in as the second unit leader. Beverley has been putting up decent performance since his trade, averaging 6 points in his 16-minute stay on the court. But, when he stepped on the court against DeMar DeRozan this time, he dropped 14 points in just 18 minutes.

While DeMar DeRozan didn’t place a lot of blame on Beverley despite clashing against him, he did not give a clean chit to the Bucks’ Bobby Portis Jr. Moreover, he said that Portis Jr’s action stood in clear violation of one of his biggest ethical standpoints.

During tonight’s passage of play, DeMar DeRozan and Portis Jr. contested for a rebound just before the end of the third quarter. However, the duo got called out for a foul by the referee and lost possession. Everyone, including DeMar DeRozan, was frustrated during the match because of the constant trouble with the officials. However, Portis Jr. gave him a hard stare down after the call was made.
Speaking about it, DeMar DeRozan said, “If I feel anything disrespectful any type of way you know, I don’t accept that.” He further stated, “It’s just my respect to the game. So when I feel like, that’s when you know I take it in a certain way.” The Chicago Bull further noted that he doesn’t see uniforms when he sees disrespect in the game. What are your thoughts on this?
