The Toronto Raptors suffer a major blow after losing to the Dubs. 22-year-old Scottie Barnes exited the floor in the second quarter after sustaining a blow to his left hand. The rising star hurt his left hand on his way to a lay-up and confused the medical team on how he sustained the injury. Later, it was revealed that Barnes’ left hand had a fatal collision with his teammate Immanuel Quickley’s legs on his way.

While the confusion is out of the way, the team has a major setback on Barnes’ return. The star sustained a fracture to the third metacarpal bone in the left hand and had been ruled out indefinitely, as per Eric Koreen, The Athletic reporter.

It’s indeed a major setback for the Raptors because of their current standings in the season. The 12th seeded team looked for a big win against the Golden State Warriors to move up the ladder. However, it didn’t turn out the way it was expected.

Scottie Barnes and RJ Barrett have been the trusted offensive attack ever since the departure of Pascal Siakam. In addition to it, the 2022 ROYT winner Barnes has responded well to his role. After a decent sophomore year performance, he improved his scoring average to 20 points in this season. And, unfortunately, it all seemed to have come crashing down with the latest update.

Moreover, with only 20-odd games left in the regular season, Barnes’ indefinite injury break might have ended the Raptors’ run for a playoff spot.

Barring the frustrating injury aside, Scottie Barnes almost played a spoilsport in the Warriors unbeaten 7-game on-road winning streak. Let’s take a closer look at tonight’s game.

The Dubs evade an embarrassing loss

The Warriors faced the fifth back-to-back game in the last 30 days. Even though the Dubs found their way back on the playoff dream in this stretch, they seemed off color tonight. The Raptors made the maximum out of it by leading the first two quarters. The visitors were all over the arena, with their turnovers, and it seemed like the Dubs might end their streak.

In his 16-minute game time, Barnes dropped 10 points and 6 rebounds. Unfortunately, it all came crashing down after his exit. The Dubs found their element back in the break, chased down the Raptors’ lead and took the game away from the home side in a matter of minutes. Currently, the Dubs 3 wins away from reaching the 6th seed in the West and the Raptors are stuck in the 12th seed.
