Not too long ago, Jaylen Brown appeared at the center of the scope for Stephen A. Smith. It was during an episode of the First Take that the veteran analyst cited a source who texted him a critical opinion about the Celtics‘ second-best scorer. Of course, journalism ethics, as Stephen A. later pointed out, wouldn’t let him reveal the source. But accordingly, JB’s ‘I am better than you‘ attitude has hurt his marketability.

This discussion came after Brown’s All-NBA team snub and such an attitude has also made him unlikeable. Something, according to Smith’s source, JB knows. Much discourse has taken place around this subject. And now, popular rapper and BET Hip-Hop Awards winner, Ice Cube, also has a word or two to say about Jaylen and his marketability.

Joining Shaquille O’Neal on The Big Podcast, host Adam Lefkoe, asked the 54-year-old what he thought about the Georgia native. Not only did he think it was a baseless claim, but Ice Cube provided the ultimate solution that would put these and everything else to rest. “I believe winning is marketable. He [Brown] is a winner … He put a ring on that finger, as Shaq knows, he’ll become even more marketable.

“Once he seal the deal, I think people will understand that he’s the kind of leader that some people love. A quiet assassin,” the Barbershop series star said. He isn’t wrong. Everybody who knows the NBA will agree that a championship on one’s resume goes a long way in shutting down any naysayers. But not all the way, yes? And with JB, the chances are high.

Jaylen Brown may not have an exploding personality, but he’s authentic, and that’s what matters, per Ice Cube

Ice Cube brings our attention to one of the quietest personalities in the NBA – Kawhi Leonard. Did that lessen his marketability in any way? No. So, if someone like The Klaw can be marketable, Jaylen Brown absolutely can and has more going for him. In fact, the California native points out that “at the end of the day, authenticity rules everything.”

One reason that Cube cites is Brown’s stand on COVID-19 vaccination. No, no, it’s nowhere close to the Kyrie Irving one. Jaylen refused to clarify whether he had gotten vaccinated. At the time, he said that as the Vice President of Player’s Association, he could not reveal his or anyone else’s status because it was his job to “protect our players’ rights and our medical privacy.” Granted, it did not go over well with the media.

As for the marketability side, Ice reiterates that if Jaylen Brown adds titles to his name, “he’ll be more than satisfied whether he does 10 or two commercials.” Not to mention, he is one of the highest-paid basketball players in the world. That alone speaks volumes. What do you guys think? Agree or disagree?
