Who doesn’t dream of getting their name announced by Adam Silver once in a lifetime? Kai Cenat, a popular YouTuber, pulled up to the TD Garden today for the reigning champions, the Boston Celtics matchup against the New York Knicks. His outfit sure did send me back in time to the 1970s Boston, where gangsters were galore. He did have his ‘I’m HIM’ moment today. Youtubers like Cenat, with that level of popularity, are sure to be seated in the courtside seats. That’s where he bumped into Adam Silver.

During the break, he spotted the NBA’s Commissioner. As a longtime hoops fan, he requested Silver for something that any fan probably would. He asked Silver to “draft” him in 2031. But Adam already had other plans because he said, let’s do it right now!

Scrambling to find his phone, Kai Cenat got to realize his dream. He could not do it as a hooper, but found another way to make it come true. With the age of digital creators upon us, the NBA has also decided to test the waters. The league has signed influencers like Kai Cenat and Drew Afualo to showcase exclusive behind-the-scenes content. They sure do reach a wide audience, which will help. It was part of this initiative that Cenat was invited to the TD Garden and also featured in a promo video of “The Tip-Off 2024-25”.

As a lifelong fan of this league, it’s a dream come true to work with the NBA and other creators to bring more content to my supporters this season than ever before,” said Kai Cenat, who turned up for Day 1 of the NBA season in a classy $43,357 Cadillac.

This initiative is known as the NBA Playmakers, which will allow digital creators to license NBA highlights for their original videos. “Creators are a key part of the NBA’s content ecosystem, helping us connect with new audiences in innovative ways,” said Bob Carney, NBA’s Senior Vice President of Social and Digital Content.

Content creators in the basketball world have already elevated their presence on YouTube, and now the sport’s top stars are joining in. The NBA’s strategy to expand partnerships with creators aims to propel the league into a forward-thinking future.

Kai Cenat might have had a bone to pick with Jaylen Brown in the NBA!

This wasn’t Cenat’s first time seeing the Celtics’ star Jaylen Brown up close. He was in attendance and on the court during the NBA All-Star Dunk Contest. JB called his superstar teammate Jayson Tatum, alongside Cenat, to assist him in his attempt. The viral content creator, however, was sitting on a chair, mind you, he is only 5’4”.

Jaylen Brown makes it over him, dunks the ball, and pulls out the famous Dee Brown celebration. For the uninitiated, the celebration is putting a hand on your eyes. The only difference here was Dee did it while in the air and Jay did it after landing, that too, after jumping over Cenat! He was booed by many in the stands! Even X did not spare him. But this was the dunk that landed him in the Finals!!

While Cenat is a 2x Streamer of the year, it seems like he isn’t satisfied with his job. Kai had tweeted, “I’m quitting streaming and becoming a professional basketball player. Goodbye.” However, Kai’s performance at the 2024 NBA All-Star Celebrity Game was one to forget, as he struggled to even get his hands on the ball. Despite his quiet showing, he was part of Team Shannon Sharpe, which cruised to a dominant victory over Team Stephen A. Smith. Turns out it was just a hook for this parody video.

He created a fictional basketball league where the 22-year-old played alongside children. With a kid-filled draft, a basketball court bearing the LBA logo, professional referees, and a lively crowd, it was easy to forget that this new league was just a product of Cenat’s imagination. During his Sept. 27 stream, he humorously mocked the traditional NBA draft process, showing his audience how he went from a projected third-round pick to being selected last. It did have immense production value, *cough cough* looking at you, NBA.
