Is it inspiring or overstepping for athletes like Stephen Curry to get involved in politics?

Stephen Curry calls for action from the masses! Months after the superstar said that he “maybe” considering running for President in the future, he has turned into a part-time politician! The Warrior has continued to lend his support for the Democratic party’s election campaign. However, this time, the Splash Brother has moved past the differences in politics and stood for the greater good, calling for ‘a gameplan.’

The Baby-Faced Assassin has had a close association with Barack Obama and his family. Apart from visiting the former POTUS at the White House, the hooper has a special bond with the politician. Notably, the 4x NBA Champ has honored ‘Barry’ with his special signature Under Armour kicks. Pledging a stronger hand of support, Stephen Curry, alongside Michelle Obama, conducted a virtual rally and passed on an important message ahead of the upcoming Presidential election.

In a recent Zoom call for the ‘When We All Vote’ initiative, Stephen Curry addressed the American voters and urged them to vote. He said, We have to make sure that, not only yourself, your family, your cousin, your uncles, your aunties, everybody. Make sure that they’re registered to vote. Check if you’re registered.”

He didn’t stop at that. Steph threw in a challenge, saying, “We all, as people, make sure we protect democracy.”

The 4x NBA Champ continued, A challenge to everybody. Think of 3 people that you know who probably aren’t registered to vote. Take that sh-t out, take those three people, and make sure you reach out to them… Make sure they check and help them make plans to vote on November 5th cause we all need a game plan.”

Michelle Obama, who runs the non-partisan voting initiative ‘When We All Vote’, organized the Countdown to the Polls, a virtual rally. It’s specially designed to motivate volunteers across the country and gear them up for the big day. And the generous Steph has definitely done his part for the cause.

What’s your perspective on:

Is it inspiring or overstepping for athletes like Stephen Curry to get involved in politics?

Have an interesting take?

Will Stephen Curry run for President in the future?

If not for electoral politics, the Splash Brother has actively involved himself in American politics from time to time. The superstar has voiced his opinion on various serious affairs and even taken a strong stance against Donald Trump’s reign. Notably, the Dubs star refused to visit the White House after winning the 2017 & 2018 NBA Championship as a dissent.

On the other hand, Curry constantly showed his support for the Democratic party. At least we know which party he’d run for in the future! Anyway, on a serious note, Steph publicly extended his support to Kamala Harris, the Blue Party’s presidential candidate.

In the recently concluded Democratic National Convention, Steph said, “That unity on and off the court reminded us all that together, we can do all things and continue to inspire the world. That’s why I believe that Kamala as president could bring that unity back and continue to move our country forward..”

Besides that, in an interview a few months back, the Warrior almost gave away his future plans to run for President. Well, we’ll never know what we have in store for the future. Whether he ventures into fashion, NBA team ownership, or politics, of simply enjoys being a dad, remains to be seen. With such stature, what would you have done?
