The NBA can be cruel at times for some of the greatest ballers. After toiling hard with great performances season after season, some ballers have never tasted the glory. The ultimate goal is the NBA Championship. One of the notable stars on that list is Charles Barkley. Despite his accolades and contributions to multiple franchises, the legend is still trolled for his ringless journey. Even the active players like James Harden and Chris Paul also face a similar situation. However, NFL legend Shannon Sharpe seemed to have found a unique perspective to overcome the shame.
Featuring alongside former NBA player Gilbert Arenas in the latest episode of Nightcap, Sharpe debated over the players’ ringless journey. Arenas argued that he would give up anything to win a ring. Notably, the Wizards legend didn’t win a ring in his 11-season-long career. Whereas Sharpe, who has won both championship and HoF honors, gave a unique perspective. He argued that he would consider getting the HoF honor rather than winning a championship ring.

Sharpe stated that 80 men per team go against each other at a Super Bowl event every year, which adds to 25,000 odd men in total. Whereas he revealed that one has to go up against only 500 men when it comes to the Hall of Fame. He concluded, saying, “If you forced me to take it, I’ll take Hall of fame… For me, it’s a no brainer.”
Hilariously, Arenas switched sides immediately after comprehending Sharpe’s unique take. The Wizards legend said, “That’s the type of gang you want to be in. You want to be in the Hall of Fame gang.”
With that argument, Charles Barkley has won, as per Sharpe’s perspective. The Suns legend was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2006.

On the other hand, Chris Paul, Devin Booker, Russell Westbrook, Paul George, and Jimmy Butler are a few of the active players who have yet to win a ring. At the same time, they have enough accolades under their names to make their case to win a ring.
Notably, Harden, Russ, and PG-13 have the opportunity to end their drought together this season, as they have produced a stellar run so far with the Clippers. What do you make of Sharpe’s perspective? Would you rather have a championship ring or be inducted into the hall of fame? Let us know in the comments.
